Well Pepp looked good for awhile there…

I am glad I have Parker going.

I got lucky… my opponent this week benched Ronnie Brown, probably for the reasons I would have. We are in a winners league, so its understandable. He has Alexander and Addai left. I don’t know why he would choose a 2nd string back over the starter. Even I would start Brown going against Pittsburgh over Addai going against the NYG. 2 good def’s, but one starter, and one splitting carries. That’s a no brainer.
Yeah i had Culpepper pegged, i even called out the 2 picks. But ronnie put a little jiggle in my predictions. I had him pegged on the yardage but he sqoze those 2 td’s out. I figured he could possibly get those, but i was rooting against it.

I’m glad Pittsburgh won.

I wasn’t to far off. These things are hard to predict.

Anybody have Charlie Batch 200+ yards and 3 td’s or Heath Miller 100+ yards and a td.

Yep parker was sweet 115 yards or so, but no td. You see that. Parker was the better runner but no goal-line td’s. Those are so over-rated.

Fantasywise the better back “Parker” would get 5 points in a yahoo league with Ronnie getting like 15.
Go heavy fool wrote:
In your case I would definitly go with dillon for the yardage factor alone.

With those match ups. LT’s best possibility with the chiefs isn’t going to be too much greater than Dillons worst against the bills. Dillon isn’t a gamble here. LT is. LT is the sure thing the other 13-15 games. And
Dillon is the gamble.
Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait until week 7. Another possible factor is that if Dillon has an injury that causes him to miss any time at all, he may lose his spot permanently to Maroney, or at least see a significant decrease in carries. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I agree… the 1 point for 20 yards format undervalues yardage so much, and without fractional points a back who goes for 99 yards scores just 1 point more than one who goes for 60 yards. Over the course of the season, so many yards end up counting for nothing in that format. I think that increases the luck factor too much, since it doesn’t assess overall performance as effectively.

Exactly!

Some formats are horrible. There should be better scoring systems, but hey what are gonna do…

I like to see the points represent the actual performance.

There is no way in hell Ronnie Browns performance was worth 3 times the points that Willie Parker’s was… and that is how it would be scored in a yahoo league. About 15 to 5. Aint that a bitch!

Hell… there should be bonus points for breaking 100 yards or something, or double or triple bonus for breaking 200 yards. Maybe they could box it in 25 yard groupings or 50 yard groupings. Or plays where they pick up first downs. sub points too for failed 3rd down conversions. There are a million possibilities.

A 1 yard goal-line carry is not worth the same as 139 yards rushing… but those are both worth 6 points in most leagues and that’s how they’re scored. That’s a bunch of horseshit!

Prediction.

This is how much I respect the steelers DEF in the season opener spotlight and their superstar out.

Steelers win 10-7

Pepp 182 yards 1 td 2 ints
Ronnie Brown 62 yards 0 tds
Chambers 48 yards 0 tds
McMichael 26 yeards 1 TD

These numbers I pulled right out of my ass obviously, but I bet I’m not too far off… we’ll find out by tonight. By the way I’m not psychic if I get insanely close.

Recap

1- I got the winner.
2- My final prediction was closer to the half-time score. Off on that after the no-interference call
3-Nailed Ronnie Browns 62 yards on the button
4- Nailed Culpeppers 2 int’s
5- wrong on ronnie’s 2 goal-line td’s, I predicted none
6- wrong on Culpeppers yards, I went too low with 182, actual 262, and he threw no td’s & I predited 1
7- Close with Chambers, I predicted 48 yards & no td’s, actual was 59 yards and no td’s

8- McMichael 26 yards and a td, actual was 10 yards and no td

I think Ronnies goal-line carries threw me a little. Other than that… the 62 yards on the nose was just luck.

One good thing about yahoo though… you can also make custom leagues for free. That’s what I did. My league’s scoring uses 1 point per 10 yards rushing/receiving with 6 per TD, including fractional points. So today Parker had 12.8 and Brown had 18.2 in my league. We also use IDP. Joey Porter was the top fantasy player in today’s game with 22.5 points.

I know it’s also possible to give bonuses for players breaking 1000 yards, 1500 yards, or other plateaus on yahoo (not in head-to-head though). I’m not sure about the 100 yard game thing though.

btw, so it’s saved in this thread, or in my predictions, R. Moss isn’t in my top 5 because of A. Brooks.
His appeal is solely from a fantasy perspective; that guy does just enough to lose. He can get you some points, but attempt to count on him you’ll get burned. I’m surprised Isiah Thomas didn’t sign him in the offseason.

Alright, last night was a great game. I had both RBs so I was just hoping for a high scoring affair. I can’t believe that Saban was such a pussy with that flag throw for the challenge. WTF? I would have run out on the field and hit the official in the gooch with it.

I was extremely disappointed to see Cowher pull Parker on the goal line last night. But from what I read this morning it had more to do with Parker being winded than anything else. Let’s hope that’s true. I guess I don’t see why you would pull him. He had just gained 10 yds on two carries and for sure could have scored.

Culpepper looked pretty bad all night. Just like I thought he would. He’s like Vick, take away his scrambling game and he’s just not a good pocket QB. Just my opinion and I don’t feel like arguing! Yeah, i’m looking at you “goheavyfool.” LOL

I should have started the Steelers D and i’m regretting that. I could have had the best of both worlds if I did. R. Brown 18 pts and the Steelers D 15 pts. Now i’ve got to hope like heck that Cincy can come up big against KC.

Regardless of the fantasy impact of the game last night, I thought it was a great game. It’s fukin great to have football back.

You should be a politician.

I had Heath Miller, worth 24 pts. I also had Parker, worth 22 points versus Brown 18. 5pt bonus at 100 yrds and 5 pt bonus at 25 carries. Who you start depends on the scoring format.

I did not get shit for Pepp obviously.

You did not listen to me Dre, now look what you got on your bench haha.
I played Pepp in one league which backfired. Chambers was dissappointing but he is a hit or miss guy. This is overall pts at the end of the season so he should average out to be top 5 (too much to hope for?).

I did well with the Parker trade and I started Miller over Heap in another league. Thanks you Saban…dumbass, heave that fucking flag!!

That blows, I only got fukin’ 5 pts in my Yahoo league for Parker. He gets over 100 yards and only get 5 yards, unreal.

Yeah, yeah, from now on AA i’ll take any advice you give me. haha

What was the freakin’ deal with that limp armed noodle toss? That would have set up Parker for a td!!!

Haha, just like “goheavyfool” my advice will be hit or miss.

Well, i liked it in one league bc I started Miller, hated it in the other where I started Parker.

And what the fuck was up with the funble they had at the goal line. Willie got them down to the one and they put in Haynes. Fuckers! I am glad they fumbled that shit, serves them right for taking my damn fantasy points. Cant wait till Sunday.

Well, from what I read this morning they took Parker out on the goal line because he was winded and not because Haynes is going to be the goal line back. So, that’s good news. If I was Parker though I would have told them to Piss Off! I got us down here, I can run 2 more yards!

And I was laughing my ass off when they fumbled that ball. Like you said, it serves them right for taking our boy Willie out.

On a side note, today is going to be a long day. Boss is gone and I don’t have shiat to do at work.

I can just imagine the press conference. “Coach Cowher, is there any truth to the rumor that the reason for the goal-line fumble was that you upset the fantasy gods by taking Willie Parker out?”

“Next question”

That would be awesome. haha

So, is Steve Smith going to play or what? I had to start him because they said he was a game time decision. So, if he doesn’t play that sucks for me.

And after last night i’m thinking I should have drafted Ward instead of S. Moss. Oh well.

Skins will be fine when Port comes back in week 3 or so, Moss sould be fine.

Smith did not practise again today. I hope he does play, that will piss the guy off I am playing against, he benched him, haha.

Alright, i’m trusting you on this one.

Yeah, maybe I should have benched him but I figured with all the shiat that DeAngelo Hall is talking, it would make Smith want to play. Hopefully it does and hopefully he has a big game.
