It’s not that simple.

Trayvon is the face of an issue because that is the real reason everyone was upset when his HIGH PROFILE case hit the scene.

It is why some here seem in the dark that racial profiling is a daily issue for entire groups of people…the masses jump on the high profile cases to support their stance.

That is human nature.

I agree about it being human nature to look with suspicion upon those different from you. I don’t really believe we will ever truly get to a point where people don’t notice skin color because our race ties back to our culture and is part of how we identify ourselves. We may get to the point of not caring, but never not noticing.

And regarding Trayvon, I understand that he was made the face of a larger issue. I just wonder why because he was not the best candidate to be made the face of anything really and in doing that I believe the point of trying to create dialogue about something was lost in the trial. I think you had a lot of white people that clung to this and were like “well if this is the best case of injustice they have, then they are just looking for something to complain about”.

It had the unfortunate side effect of giving legitimacy to the opinions of racist whites because they were actually on the side of reason in this trial. I actually liked the way Charles Barkley summed it up and his was probably my favorite commentary through the whole trial even though I don’t really think Zimmerman was profiling Martin based on race.

BARKLEY: And let me tell you, Mr. Zimmerman was wrong to pursue – he was racial profiling. I think Trayvon Martin, God rest his soul, I think he did flip the switch and started beating the hell out of Mr. Zimmerman. But it was just a bad situation. And like I said, the main thing I feel bad for, it gives every black and white person who is racist a platform to vent their ignorance.

That’s the thing that bothers me the most because I watched this trial closely and I watch all these people are television talking about it. A lot of people have a hidden agenda. You know, they want their racist views, whether they are white or black –

BARTIROMO: The bias comes out.

BARKLEY: The bias, it definitely comes out. It was a bad situation, we all lost. And I feel bad for his parents. You don’t ever want to see anybody lose a kid. (CNBC Closing Bell, July 18, 2013)

I do not disagree with you.

So they got one of the scumbags? All our vets and especially those that have seen action are real heros. The hell that poor man went through in Okinawa to have his life ended like this?

If convicted, I propose a Japanese bayonet to the belly or how about a Bataan Death March? Ah shit, can’t do that, 8th amendment prevents it. I guess that is what the old man fought for.

This works for me, Ooooorahhhh!

The battle is also associated with reports of many Japanese soldiers being eaten by the thousands of saltwater crocodiles lying in wait in the swamps. The Guinness Book of World Records has listed it both as “Worst crocodile disaster in the world (disputed)”[2] and “Most Number of Fatalities in a Crocodile Attack”.[3]

“That night [of the 19 February 1945] was the most horrible that any member of the M.L. [motor launch] crews ever experienced. The scattered rifle shots in the pitch black swamp punctured by the screams of wounded men crushed in the jaws of huge reptiles, and the blurred worrying sound of spinning crocodiles made a cacophony of hell that has rarely been duplicated on earth. At dawn the vultures arrived to clean up what the crocodiles had left. . . . Of about one thousand Japanese soldiers that entered the swamps of Ramree, only about twenty were found alive.”[2][4]

Why can’t we just say they are scumbags, just the way that anyone that would do this is a scumbag. I’m not one to buy in to conspiracy theories too much, but damn I really think the gov’t and media want a race war. It is the first thing people want to bring up. Scum exist no matter the race; why can’t the good, decent people get together and say enough of this bullshit

Hay, that bow I’m holding in my avatar can do a lot of damage; only if Uncle Sam would see fit for me to do my civic duty.

Shit, now I’m going to get all the PETA and anti-hunters going, sorry!

Then why isn’t he speaking out about this incident about racial profiling ?

The boy tweets that he HATES WHITE PEOPLE, and brags about knocking out 5 woods (which is slang for Peckerwood, for those who don’t know). What could possibly be more racial than that ?
Possibly because much like me, he can see a kid acting like an ass vs an adult acting like a racist.

If Zimmerman was patrolling with his “Obama look-alike” sidekick, you can bet the same questions would be asked that are being asked here.

Maybe people have more credit than you give them.
If you are going to take a position on racial profiling, then you must do so EVERY TIME it happens. Otherwise, you are showing race preference, which is what Obama is doing.
Uh, what? Since when are police now targeting white kids?

Oh, wait…you are actually relating a criminal to our own judicial system which has put people away for decades for crimes they didn’t commit.

wow.
I am interested in the issues of Whites killed by Blacks because the front line so-called civil rights leaders aren’t. Do you see Jessie or Al coming out about this ?
I personally don’t care what either of these man have to say about this. I am curious why they are an issue at all as far as all black people are concerned.
If I were to speak out about this as equally loud as Al, Jessie, or the Obama did with Trayvon Martin, I would be called David Duke. THAT is the main problem.
Gee, maybe that would be due to the lack of profiling by authority figures.
Free speech and Equal Rights are allowed so long as the specfic media narrative is maintained.
Sure, if you say so.

It seems to be a very simple case of one side trying to talk about racial profiling and the other acting like criminals are the same as police.

There are incidents of racism with cops, not all the time, but it happens.

But the use of racism as a defense is used at an obscene rate.

With regard to this thread, the youths involved were not cops. Their racial slurs make it clear they had racist views towards a specific group and then went on to kill someone from that group, then this should be a hate crime.

Does Obama’s grandfather look like the WW2 Vet ?

We don’t know, since it does not yield the same response as talking about Trayvon Martin being Obama’s mythical son.

I don’t know a single black person in real life that thinks violence is cool or acceptable.

Your 60 year old black uncle is obviously a great representation of black culture.
