2 1,000 yd. Rushers Same Team?

I know it’s really early in the season, but I think it will happen this year. It almost happened last year with the Broncos. If Dillon and Maroney keep going the same way and stay healthy, they could both get 1,000 yards this year.

Dunn and Vick actually have a good shot at it too. Vick already has 333 yards after 4 games, which is over 80 yards per game so far. If he plays every game, he only needs a little more than 55 yards per game the rest of the season to get 1,000.

So, do you guys think a team will have two 1,000 yard rushers this season? If so, which team do you think it will be?

Personally, I think the Falcons will do it, and not the Patriots. I could see Maroney gradually getting more and more carries, and Dillon finishing just below 1,000.

I don’t see either of them doing it. I think Dillon will be injured again and I think the Falcons are going to fall apart in about 3 weeks.

Agree with this. If I had to pick one team to do it it would be the Falcons but I don’t think so.

Don’t think either will pull it off. Vick will get injured before he reaches 1,000 yards.

Think that was “Kevin Mack”.

There was a sports illustrated article titled something along the lines:

I think Warrick Dunn and Mike Alstott came damn close a few years ago with the Bucs.

I think the Falcons will do it. Vick has devolved back into the scrambler that he always was. Dunn is definitely going over 1000. I think Vick will break 1000 easily as well. New England won’t get there because they won’t be facing the Bengals D every week.

With no deep threat to stretch opposing defenses, they’ll have teams dropping 8 in the box every down to stop their tandem of Maroney and Dillon.

It looks like neither Pats RB will break 1000, while Vick and Dunn could both be over 1100 by the end of the season.

Dunn is one of the most fun backs to watch these days. I’d rather see him run the ball than watch Vick try to make things happen.

As for the 2 backs having 1000 yd seasons, if that does happen, what does that say about a team’s passing game? I for one wouldn’t want it.

Also, which team do you think Michael Turner is going to end up on next year? (He’s the back up for LT out here in San Diego)

Kiick and Csonka did this for the Dolphins back in the '70s.

What is the rushing record for a QB? I know it was once held by Bobby Douglas of the Bears who rushed for over 900. Is that still the record?

This one pretty much looks like a lock. For Vick not to get 71 yards and Dunn not to get 48 yards in 4 games seems unfathomable (barring injury, as always).

There is a VERY outside shot of it happening with the Cowboys, but it would take some huge games out of Barber and he is pretty much a short yardage, change of pace and goal line kind of back.

In fact it was Csonka and Morris who rushed for 1000 yards… not Jim Kiick (he had 521 yards in 1972, Csonka had 1117 and Morris had exactly 1000)

He will end up back in SD. It will take a team’s first and third round pick to get him away from the Chargers.

Aww man don’t say that. Turner is a nice back, he’d be starting anywhere else but here and maybe KC. Love that he’s on our team, but dude deserves to start somewhere.
