Judging by his pic, he isn’t the brightest crayon in the box.
Seriously, your writing is important because some people who can give you advice don’t know what your saying.
I’ve had the privilege of these guys telling me to do WS4SB and I’m 17, I’m glad I’m on the right track finally.
Nice hat.
alright im sorry guys i didnt know my writing was so bad.
i guess its just how i think. maybe you guys should just appreciate my unique ability in writing instead of trying to tell me because im still going to write however i want but my question is should i stay a powerlifting and build dense muscle and then diet to look like hard instead of bodybuilding and have soft smooth look.
i dont know how else to put it. i just dont know if powerlifting would be better or if bodybuilding would be better for the long run.

That “soft, smooth” look is generally dictated by how much body-fat you are carrying and your hydration levels, not by how you train, despite what you’ve read or heard. How you train is only a small portion of that look.
Just concentrate on lifting more weight a month from now than you do now, and more two months from now than one month from now, and on and on…
Oh and eat, a lot. The root words of hypertrophy in greek (hyper, trophe) literally mean excessive nutrition or nourishment. Fun fact for the day.
Holy fucking shit, this has potential.
Listen. If you look at the successful guys in both bodybuilding and powerlifting, 95% of the time, theyre doing the exact same shit.
Im putting my money on you having never competed in powerlifting, in which case, you dont powerlift. You lift weights.
The answer to your question is simple though. Stop trying to classify things. You have no need for any sort of specialized training since you have no need to specialize.
Go lift, have fun, get stronger, eat a lot, stop worrying about whether what you are doing is “powerlifting” or “bodybuilding”.
Yo dawg. Google jelqing. This shit beats powerlifting and bodybuilding put together.
DUUUDDEE You gotta get on that p90x. DO IT bro. Theez guys are assholes u righte fine
yea man how much money i got pics and stats. thats if you’re serious.

Wow you totally missed the point of Stronghold’s post, and probably mine as well. Damn you’re stupid. Good luck getting help around this forum, tool.
jwill,
i bet you have a hot mom
The reason people are jumping on you about your (in)ability to write is that T-Nation is not just about weightlifting and nutrition, it’s a haven for those who try to lift themselves above the medocrity of the masses who make up the general population.
We pride ourselves on our abilty to improve ourselves, not just physically, but also mentally.
While lifting big arse weights is a large part of it, we also like to understand the reasoning behind lifting those big arse weights, why it makes us strong and how it’ll work to make us look good nekkid and attract the often elusive members of the opposite sex.
Have you noticed the “Strong Words” printed on the homepage? They’re not there so we can pretend to be philosoplical about lifting weights, they’re there because we find motivation in the words and the lives of the people who wrote them, whether they lifted or not.
If you cannot be bothered to put effort into stringing words together to form a cohesive sentence, then how do you expect us to believe that you’ll put in the effort anywhere else?
Go hunt for one of TC’s “Speech To The Graduates” then come back and tell us if you want to be a sheep or the shepard.
And if you want an answer to what I perceived the original question to be, go read the stickied threads in the beginner section. Read them and digest them. Then, if you have any more specific questions, start a thread on that board and ask.
And change your avatar image from something other than a douche bag MySpace photo.

What are your competition numbers and what meet did you hit them in?
99.999% of the people on here who talk about how they “powerlift” are gym rats with no intent of every competing in powerlifting who jumped on the pl bandwagon since its apparently not cool to be a bodybuilder anymore.
If you are interested in competing in powerlifting, then train for powerlifting. If you are interested in competing in bodybuilding, then train for bodybuilding. If the only thing you care about is getting bigger…with no competitive aspirations, then you are best off taking the advice that I gave you earlier:
Lift, get stronger, have fun, eat a lot, dont worry about what you call what youre doing.
deja vu?

hold on now, there are tons of us on here that would call ourselves ‘bodybuilders’, yet have no intention of ever stepping on stage.
just as well, i’m sure there are plenty of successful ‘powerlifters’ who at the present moment don’t feel the urge to join a meet.

He is right about the name change though. You have people on this site who do act as if “bodybuilder” is now a bad word even though that is clearly what their goals are.
They have been brainwashed into thinking that being a “bodybuilder” means you are weak and can’t climb stairs…or some other nonsense that gets written in these articles.
Then, after several years of doing routines designed by people who literally hate bodybuilding, they finally realize they haven’t grown as much as they could have had they simply done what the big strong guys do.
I doubt strong’s intent was to start another debate about who gets to be called what.

ask and ye shall receive …

I lift weights and throw the football with my roommates from time to time. I have no intention of ever playing football.
Does that mean I have any business calling myself a football player?
Whether or not bodybuilding allows people to claim themselves as part of the sport without actually competing in that sport is none of my concern, but there are people posting here who say they powerlift who dont even know if you are allowed to use lifting straps or if you have to have the straps on your suit up…and those who dont even know the difference between lifting straps and suit straps.
Not that this is entirely related to this thread though.
To repeat my main point for…the third time now?
OP needs to lift, get stronger, eat to grow, and have fun, NOT worry about what to classify himself as.
