Excellent transformation. For the next show you should work on bringing up your upper chest.[/quote]
Right on point! This was the critique I got back and for my width of my back.

Outstanding!
Concerning your diet, did you follow a diet protocol? I guess Iām asking how did you know how to calibrate/breakdown the macro nutrients prot/carb/fats into a workable diet to help you lose fat, but also provide enough energy to sustain your workouts?
In your sample diet you have a total of 30g of BCAAs. Beyond the workout commitment and actual diet, in your opinion, was this level of BCAAs essential to your transformation?
Iāll thank you in advance for your reply and any guidance to reference material(s).

It is an interesting question. I was about 37% P/37% C/ 25% F during my last four weeks preparing for the show. I had a great energy level the whole time. I did refeed every 7 days.
I think the BCAAās were essential in the last few weeks when I was dieting but donāt for sure how essential they were.

That jacks me up seeing another 40 something guy in great shape. I commend you for turning it around but admire where you are at, regardless of where you started.
Thatās some volume you are doing in your workouts!

X 2 for sure ā¦

Can you tell us what you would eat on your refeed days?

Same meals just added 70-100g more carbs. Did it through rice, oatmeal or other carb sources. This was just the last 4 weeks for the contest. The great thing is this diet wasnāt extreme. I had a fairly high carb throughout the diet and just did the refeed every 7 days. I know a lot of people have diets where the go ketogenic for 2-3 days then have a refeed. I have done that before and it is not too fun.
thats just amazing man im just hoping to get as jacked as you.

Thanks. You can do it. Remember, I did have 10 years of lifting experience before my āhiatusā of getting fat and out of shape. Muscle memory is real. You can do it thought but you really have to dial in on diet. Of course you have to workout but hopefully that is what you are doing. You also can only do this type of transformation with weights. Crossfit, P90X, Insanity, Bow Flex isnāt going to do it. Old fashioned iron will!
This is one of the best transformations I have seen for a non-newbie. Congratulations and good luck in October.
Thanks. It will be interesting to see how I will look. I learned a lot from that show. My tan was not dark enough and didnāt do as many carbs as I should 1-2 days out. Hope posing will be better the 2nd time around also.
^Looking very good. Feels good to have an idea of where you were last time to assess if youāre better off this time around. Best of luck!
S
inspiring.

Of course most people are going to ignore this since many posters on this site are convinced they are simply a long diet away from winning a physique competition even though they have no foundation of size. You clearly had built that foundation of muscle before your hiatus and that served you well i.e. didnt end up looking like a stringbean on stage.
That said great job. I know all too well how difficult the dieting (and reverse dieting etc) process is before you look the way you want to.

3 weeks out (abs shot)
Very impressive. Do you have a few other shots for us? I realize that the cell phone selfy is a different one to get too many angles on but you could use a timer. Superb job once again and you seem to be enjoying yourself for the most part. Very disciplined but not hating life:)
