I’m about to start a trt cycle, and want to know what do you guys think is best? micro-dosing twice a week or 250mg a week?
Isn’t that an oxymoron?
You are either on TRT, or you are cycling testosterone (an AAS).
OK, an AAS cycle.
Those two terms don’t exist together
I’ve never thought of 2x per week as microdosing. I always figured that was down to the amount, not the frequency. Like you can microdose something once per week
Well… if Sustanon is the same now as it was in the 1980’s it has 4 different esters with 4 different half-lives. The purpose for the 4 esters was for a more linear release with less frequency of injections. I would think 250mg/ wk in a single injection would be fine.
But I would stack an anabolic with it.
Just so it’s clear, do you plan on staying on, or going off after a few months?
I plan on 12 weeks on, then going off. I guess what I’m asking is, with twice a week vs once a week, would the peaks and valleys be less severe, or would it be no difference?
Please allow me to add. 250mg/wk of testosterone is nearly a total waste of testosterone. Either double that or add an anabolic steroid, IMO. And I firmly believe an anabolic stacked on the 250mg/wk is the much better choice for adding muscle.
With 250mg/wk of testosterone you are doing little more than turning off your natural production of testosterone.
The reason I asked, is that 250 mg/wk is almost for sure too much for TRT (meaning you stay on forever). Or at least it would be outside of what I’d be comfortable with doing.
On the other hand, 250 mg for 12 weeks isn’t enough to be worth it. Either up it to 400 mg or 500 mg/wk, or add something else with it. I’d do the former. Or I’d do the former with something mild added in like Tbol or Var for the first or last 4-6 weeks.
What would you recommend for dosage for trt for the rest of my life, if that is what I decide to do? half of 250, or somewhere in between?
What would you suggest I add to it? For reference, I’m a smidge over 5’11" and weigh 192lbs and have been working out for a little over two years steadily.
So if you are doing this on your own, or self TRT, or cruise is what I’d call it. It’s what I do. It kinda comes down to with what you’re comfortable with. Some guys cruise on a lot, it isn’t close to what would be an Rx from a doctor. They are able to be bigger and stronger doing that, but IMO, they are taking risks with their health past what I’d be comfortable with.
Giving a dose is pretty tough to do. Two guys that are the same size can have vastly different blood levels on the same dose.
So I’d say go more by TT (Total Test) and FT (Free Test) than a certain mg per week. Make sure where you’re at doesn’t do things like destroy your lipids, make your BP too high, etc… I measure my blood in the middle of the injection schedule to get an average level. I am comfortable being around 1,000 ng/dL TT as my average level. For me, about 150 mg/wk split up gets me to that level. You might only need a 100 mg/wk, or more than 200 mg/wk to get there (although unlikely).
Make sure it’s something you want to do. I’d recommend getting at least two sets of blood work before hand.
This might be a little soon for me recommending any AAS. To allow me to feel a little more justified, how strong are you?
- Bench Press
- Overhead Press
- Squat
- How many pull-ups can you do?
I work out at home, so I only have so much weights available. I bench press 155 for reps, usually anywhere from 20-25 per set. Overhead press is, again, for reps and I do 40lb dumbells for this, and 95 on a bar. Squat is again 155 for reps, and I can do about 7 clean pull-ups if that helps. Sorry, I don’t have access to an actual gym.
I’m getting my first blood work this Friday, and then again in 3 weeks to get a better idea. Thank you very much for being so patient and informative. I greatly appreciate it.
This is not very satisfying to me. Can you join a gym? Generally speaking, you need to move some heavy weight.
If not, just double the testosterone.
Just my opinion, you are a bit off from being ready to use AAS for muscle growth.
If you are deficient in Testosterone, TRT or self TRT may be applicable. I’d go ahead with the labs to see where you are.
I don’t want to come off as an expert or putting you down, but IMO, you need to be moving more weight to justify AAS. You can either buy more equipment or join a gym (or both). I get you’re doing a lot of reps, but it just doesn’t translate here.
You don’t need to be doing 1 rep maxes. But having equipment in which a 5 rep set is challenging I think should be a minimum for how much weight you have to work with.
Other questions:
How old are you?
What is your height and weight?
Do you think you need TRT, or is it a want? I say this because if it isn’t needed, the results will almost for sure let you down. The gains aren’t crazy. You get them, you are a few lbs heavier, then you have to work to gain. It’s not worth a lifetime commitment for that IMO.
I’m 51, 5’11.25" 191lbs, and I’m just feeling older I guess. I want to feel better energy- wise more than anything else. Btw, I appreciate you being honest, no worries about my feelings here.
I’d do the blood work. If it comes back low, you could talk to your Dr about it?
I’d stay away from cycling. It gets harder for many to recover as we get older. But if you need it TRT can be worth it.
