10 Strong Men vs African Lioness

According to Wikipedia, " they are not particularly known for their stamina ? for instance, a lioness’ heart makes up only 0.57% of her body weight (a male’s is about 0.45% of his body weight), whereas a hyena’s heart is close to 1% of its body weight.[74] Thus, they only run fast in short bursts,[75] and need to be close to their prey before starting the attack."

I don’t know how big a man’s heart is relative to size but humans have pretty good stamina. Now you get into aerobic vs anaerobic activities but for the purposes of this discussion it seems a lioness could get tired more quickly than the men. Which would put her at a disadvantage.

All these “men against animals but no weapons” scenarios are fucking stupid.

Man evolved — hands, walking upright, large brain — to utilize weapons and tools.

10 men with pointy sticks of decent length would be eating lion and wearing a lion skin.

To deny humans weapons and tools is like — OK, I’m going to have a fight between a bear and a shark. On land.
Thats why the humans get to have strength in numbers.
You dont know much about hunting do you?

Packs of humans would hunt with spears, rocks and tactics to bring down much bigger and stronger prey.

Take a human vs human fight. How many broken/fractured bones and other injuries will be sustained in a no-holds barred fight to near death?

Now put a lioness in the mix vs 10 men and knowing full well dogs below 200lbs can kill humans or cause serious injury, you’re onto a loser.

Lioness has claws and biting power, a punch from a human isn’t going to do much.
Why are we even talking about hunting? And why would a human try to punch a lion. This is about (according to the OP) 10 STRONG men against a Lioness. This is a fight so both parties are not given options.

Fight or Die.

Humans have teeth and the ability to adapt to danger very fast. 10 strong men with no Options is a Force one lion could not overcome
Yeah, I have changed my mind. 10 strong men would win against a lioness. Hell, 10 strong men could win against a Lion.

Look up Yujiro Hanma. He can kill dinosaurs with his bare hands.

As well as withstand enough tranquilizer to kill a blue whale.

Are those 10 bodybuilders?

Put Arnold, Oliva, Robbie Robinson and that lioness is going to be serve for snack.

Why would a human punch a lion? Ummm…because we dont have claws or canine teeth that can rip through animal hide? Maybe that sort of thing? if we were so goddam effective with our hands, legs and teeth we would never have invented weapons. DUUURRRRRP!

Humans have the ability to adapt to danger pretty fast? Oh so how fast do you think a group of “strong” men would adapt when they see the first two guys go down like sacks of shit in the opening seconds?

DEEEERPY DERP!

Now you might say the men have nothing to lose and are killers. Ok then lets put the lion in the same situation, a blood craze as its known. Where this ion will do nothing but attack till everything is dead or dying.

There is a reason why lions are able to make humans run in fear, they tend to have mouths the size of our heads and bite pressure to crush our skulls. Tell me Mr fantastic, what human do you know can crush an average mans skull?

No, most big cats dont have that bite pressure.

Tigers dont and I dont think Lions do.

Jaguars do, oh yeah.

The rest kind of form a scissor with their teeth and break their preys neck or they kill it with their paws.

Any way.

When I said “punch” I was talking about how everyone in this thread seems to believe (including you) that a boxing match is a humans only option. Yes we have invented and adapted to weapons because we found it was an easier path to our goal. You seem to have already sent the other 9 guys to curl up in a corner and wait for a turn at the teeth/claws of the lioness. I just do not see it that way.

Lions are not the only things that make men run in fear. Shit man I’ve seen big guys hall ass at the site of toy dogs, rats, mice, roaches, long term relationships. It is a reaction with an option. Take away a mans options and times that to ten guys against 1 lioness and you seem to believe that 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, die and the others wait for 6, 7, 8, 9 and the last guy just places himself into her mouth.

In fact, Tigers don’t need to crush our skulls, one swipe across our necks or abdomen is game over.

Still in the stupid crowd I see. Derpy is a word that amuses me because it explains perfectly your attitude in such matters as this. This is a pathetic topic but I enjoy stupidity on the internet.

Here we go.

I never said man 1-10 will take it in turns but you’re also forgetting we are not dealing with a man here, we are dealing with an Apex predator.

 • Sharp teeth
 • Sharp claws capable of gutting
 • Strength beyond 10 men. Take the worlds strongest man as a guy who is capable of being 3 times stronger than the average strong male. He wouldn’t stand a chance

Animal muscle is much more adaptive to fighting, speed and hitting. A small chimp can rip your face off before you even know WTF was going on and you’re telling me something 4-5 times a chimps weight and much much stronger than a chimp is incapable of massacring the first 5 men in front of it?

Then consider the human body. We are not as fast, strong or capable of fighting an animal even weighing 100lbs if it latches onto an artery or our legs/arms. Lionesses weigh in excess of 400lbs. Can you bench press 400lbs? Thats the average BW of a lioness.

Can you swing 400lbs like a baseball bat?

A lioness can swing a 250lbs man no problem, they hunt animals twice our size with ease.

By your logic people could stand toe to toe with brown bears who are much slower than a lion. Yeah…right.

If anybody considers themselves capable of taking on a predator then they need to consider this option. Could you take on Mike Tyson in his prime if he found out you raped and murdered his family?

No?

Then how the hell do you think you can kill a lioness in its prime.

You beat A prime Tyson the same way you kill a prime Lioness. With overwhelming force of numbers and strength.

I understand the power of a lion as well as the lion huntress. I also get nothing I say will convince you otherwise. But this is a numbers game and no matter how god like fierce the lioness is it’s not unbeatable. A large pack of Dogs will kill it just a matter of numbers. I will even go lower a large number of teenage girls would kill it also just a matter of numbers Lets pick 50 teens would kill a lion. So since it’s only a matter of how many will it take I choose 10 if the category is how many Strong Men would it take. Maybe you would want more 15, 20, 25, 30?

Either way we are not debating on if the lion would die. Just how many strong men would it take. I say 10 you say more.

I wont look it up and just say no.

But you are welcome to.

“The jaguar has the strongest bite of all felids, capable of biting down with 2,000 lbf (910 kgf). This is twice the strength of a lion and the second strongest of all mammals after the spotted hyena; this strength adaptation allows the jaguar to pierce turtle shells.”

According to wikipedia quoting some source.

And then tigers are somewhere around 1,000 lbf

I was wrong then.

Anyway, I want to be a jaguar when I grow up.

No actually it isn’t. Humans are animals too. Muscle is muscle. Any differences in pound for pound strength are mostly neurological in nature, but for the most part the only animals stronger than humans are ones bigger than humans. More cross sectional muscle tissue area = more strength. There is nothing magical about other animals’ muscle.

With more people. 2000+lbs of person vs 330lbs or so of lioness (400lbs is well above average). At some point you must obey the laws of physics. If I placed a 2000lb car on top of a lioness, would it pounce up, hurling the car into the air, and escape? Or would it be fucked 6 ways from Sunday?
spar4tee wrote:
I was wrong then.
Maybe. There’s really no telling imo. Typically the bite force tests are almost completely theoretical in nature, due to the impracticality of getting a wild animal to bite down “as hard as possible” on a test implement. Often they’ll just use a skull and do some math with the jaw bones. Not that the data is totally bogus, I just wouldn’t base much off of it.

And for what its worth according to the only bite force quotient chart I can find jaguars only score 10 points higher than tigers, which given that tigers are about 3x the size would mean tigers have a massively higher bite force than jaguars lol. So who the hell knows? Not science apparently.
