Yeah, balance in a program has never been my strength. All that squatting has meant that I’ve finally got legs rather than stilts though. Not big legs, not legs that anyone else will notice, but certainly noticeable for me. I’m pretty happy with that. Plus the missus the other day threw out that “holy crap, your legs are like really strong”, which I took as a compliment, especially if you ignore the shocked tone of voice.
You’re T-ransformation photos are living proof this works.
I really don’t know what to think about legs anymore. I’ve been hammering these for years and they aren’t big. A Crossfit coach at a aprty the other day was teasing me on my legs but I squat more than him. And I don’t know, look at Stan Efferding: the guy is massive, squats massive amounts of weight, yet his legs look tiny compared to his frame
I’m more and more gravitating towards more upper body like you J, it pays up ahah
So I decided to try a giant set
3 sets of: 5jump squat-25lbs, 10 kbs- 45lbs, 20goblet squats w/30sec between sets
it was really intense but I found that on the goblet squats, my hands were so sweaty, it was harder to hold the kettlebell than to actually do the squats, by the third round, I ended up holding the kB in a zercher position which kind of messed up my form
Even with all the motivation from @mr.v3lv3t, I still quit after 3rounds why am I such a pussy
If you’re tall or have long limbs then your mass gets stretched out. It’s tough to overcome proportions. You’d be surprised how many short guys who look jacked have 15" arms.
Putting together giant sets and circuits comes with a lot of failures. Something sounds great in your head and then sucks when you try it. It’s a lot of trial and error before you find a combination of things that pushes you and feels “right” when you finish. This is why it’s a lot easier to copy someone else’s setup. Let them experience all the failures.
Also, how would I progress the giant sets without weight
I’m thinking about switching my second leg workout into a giant set workout with split squats and using giant sets for my presses too the hard part will be sticking to it
Shorten the rest times, add reps, change the order of the exercises, change tempos.
What is your goal? My giant sets are for strength and hypertrophy with a side of conditioning. I rest 45-60 sec between every exercise. I don’t get extra rest after a “round” unless I’m belching up stomach acid and trying not to puke.
Yeah, it’s tough to come up with stuff that is equal parts miserable and doable. Especially with limited equipment.
Check out Brians website www. neversate .com (obviously without spaces). Go to the “daily workout” tab and scroll through. There’s hundreds of variations of conditioning workouts on there you could do. Same with his YouTube channel, or for $25 he’s got a PDF of awful workouts that you’d probably like haha.
The way you described is the way I believe pwn and Brian do them. It’s also how I do them. They are structured in a way that makes that possible though
