10 Miles Back Again

Fun for today:

3 hours bouldering. Lots of fun. Nearly sent my target grade, happy with that. I did manage to twist my ankle pretty badly coming off the last move though, so not all wins.

Later: lower body mobility, working around my ankle.

Fun for today:

4 hours bouldering. Mix of physical and balancey stuff. Head wasn’t in the right place today for really top end climbing, but got a lot of volume in. Work and home life is pretty full on at the minute, so enjoying a bit of time to relax.

Update:

Work and home life has continued to be full on. I’ve been getting some short climbing sessions in, but not loads. Lots of little niggles showing up still.

Just popped back on here to thank @T3hPwnisher for a recommendation and saw all the tags while i’ve been gone.

@Koestrizer @alex_uk @Cyrrex @SvenG @simo74 @whang miss all you dirty old bastards. Not entirely sure I’m willing to get sucked down the T-Nation rabbit hole again yet, but appreciate all of you for checking in.

@LoRez

I’m doing pretty well man, thanks for asking. Left T-nation for a while because i felt like a bit of a fraud on a website devoted to heavy lifting, when my main training goal is climbing and i certainly no longer lift anything over bodyweight. I was also finding myself getting sucked down rabbit holes and arguing with strangers on the internet.

I’m certainly toying with the idea of restarting my training log though, partly because all the other training logs aren’t really fit for purpose, but i do also miss chatting on here.

How have you been?

I’ve been good. Life got really busy and my focus switched to hiking for awhile, and that led to something like a 7 year hiatus. Built a house, got married, traveled a bit, had kids. Life.

Eventually got back around to lifting, and checked back in here. Mostly just as a place to log. A few old faces, but also lots of new ones.

But it’s a much friendlier place now, with lots of people just doing their own things. A lot less ego; more BSing, less arguing. It’s kind of cool.

That sounds like a pretty good 7 years though to me.

I’m definitely considering a full return, just for the banter and the training log. Seriously, i never quiet realised how easy it is to log and keep track of training here and how painful it can be trying to keep track of everything i want to track elsewhere.

My man. Like the prodigal son coming back, glad to see you. My log these days is also currently full of complete bodyweight bullshit, but I still do it. I am not engaging much otherwise. It could be argued that it’s your fault entirely.

Good to see you back, hope you stick around!

@Cyrrex nice to hear from you as well, you grumpy old bastard. Why all the bodyweight work? Did your gym run out of plates for your monstrous pressing?

@aholding88 i’m warming to the idea of a glorious return, if you think you guys can tolerate a log of an old dude documenting his adventures pulling on plastic.

@jdm135 thanks man, good to see so many old ā€œfacesā€ still around.

Work for today:

50 stair jumps
50 med ball slams
25 pull ups
Basic mobility work

Notes:

  • Mostly a recovery session, i tweaked my lower back pushing a sofa up some stairs the other day, and i have a little climbing goal i want to hit on Monday so just trying to put myself in as good a position as possible for then.
  • Also had a play with some slams and jumps, because they make sense to include into a program.
