Congrats on the pr!

Thanks man. Still weak sauce compared to most on here, but it’s coming back slowly.

Everyone has got their own journey and besides progress is progress.

Work for today:
Jumps: 10
Squat: worked up to 5 x 95kg ss hanging knee raises and pull ups
Then: 25 x 75kg
Hamstring curls machine: some
Bench: 8 x 3 @ 80kg
Seated press: 8 x 3 @ 50kg ss pull ups.

Notes:

  • slightly different approach tonight. It was a long day and I just wanted everything done so:
  • all squat FSL sets combined into one set of 25 (don’t do this if you still have a bit of a cough going on, it’s silly)
  • subbed pull downs for pull ups and supersetted them with any movement with a bar near.
  • used the hamstring machine instead of RDLs, purely because I forgot them and couldn’t be arsed to reload the bar. I do quite like this though, so it may become a regular feature.
  • I backed off weights on the 8 x 3’s substantially and cut rest periods. The weights were meant to go up again, however I hadn’t completed the 8 x 3 at the last weight especially on bench.
  • Everything felt fairly smooth today, slight pain in the right knee on some of my heavier squat sets, but it disappeared on the light set.

LOL this sound horrible

Honestly? It hurt my lungs more than my legs. Especially the hacking coughs on the last 5 or so reps.

Work for today: 20ish minutes incline treadmill. Felt considerably more difficult than normal, which is a bad sign. No more coughs or sniffles though.

20 reps were horrible. Can’t imagine doing 5 more reps after that

There’s an FSL version that is a widow widowmaker set. You just made that worse.

@MarkKO @johnimperial it was meant to speed the workout up, but factor in ā€œtrying to push the floor off your faceā€ time, I’m not sure it saved me much.

I’m seriously considering some pretty grotesque squat volume come January though, so I guess I’d better get used to it.

That sounds awful man. Don’t you feel like puking on those kinds of sets?

Not on that particular one, no. I just felt like my diseased lungs would fall out.

55kg x 5
50kg x 5
40kg x 10

Dumbbell incline bench: 3 x 12 ss. 12 x Seated cable chest flyes.
5 x 10 walking lunges (20kg)

Notes:

  • Absolutely knackered going into this, to be honest. Hard work getting myself out the door here. It’s been a long week, with very little sleep and these sessions are getting less and less motivating, particularly this one which has had the most ā€œstuffā€ crammed into it.
  • Clean and Presses went fine, weight really isn’t a limiting factor anymore, it’s the fatigue that builds. Closing in on the 5 x 5 goal.
  • Deadlifts were smooth as anything. I started putting the @Alpha bracing tips into use (thanks @ChickenLittle). Going to take a bit of practise to get the most out of them I think, but it’s not like I’m going to be moving big weights in a hurry anyway.
  • Press was technically a PR, because I don’t think I’ve pressed that weight for AMRAPS before, but was still about half of my aim. Clattered my chin on the second rep, which probably didn’t help. I went on and did the same weight for 5 reps in the two drop sets, so I’m just putting it down to a bad set.
  • I’m just playing with the ā€œchest pump workā€ now. I kinda liked this set up, but not sure I can be bothered with it again.
  • In terms of the #committed challenge, I’m planning to complete the 9 remaining sessions which should take me most of the way to Christmas anyway. If I end up with one or two ā€œspareā€ sessions at the end I intend to do the last 2 sessions of the Kroc Deadlift program as I won’t quite have finished them, plus whatever else I want. Maybe try some new ideas out for January, maybe try a stupid challenge or two, we’ll see.

What’s this committed challenge?

There’d a thread about it in the Bigger Stronger Leaner section, battling program ADD.

TL:DR is you pick a program and run it from September through to Christmas.

Ok cool. Thanks.

It’s been pretty successful so far so I wouldn’t be surprised if @Frank_C runs it again next year.

Sounds interesting, I’ll definitely join next year. I have a tendency of jumping on to the next shiny program lol

Work for today:
10 x 10 kb swings, 36kg.

Lower body slightly DOMS-ey today. Even quads for no reason I can figure.

That was the point! I’ll let the T-ransformation Challenge do it’s thing til June. I think the end of the year works well for this challenge.
