You would think, however I am pretty dense.
Once a problem gets solved I have a bad habit of forgetting about it until it flairs up again.

I genuinely love and employ this theory. The human body is insanely adaptable, whatever you tell it to do, it will do. Also, the way you explain it cracks me up haha
As far as mobility, I saw/read/watched somewhere where somebody stated, (paraphrasing) āYou want mobility? Put 135 on the bar, squat down as low as you can and take 10 deep breaths, stand up, thereās your mobility work.ā I found it humorous.
My life is an out of body experience, haha.
I call that a max effort day.
yup does sound hard as anything.
I kind of did that yesterday squatting 60kg, Iām scared of Squats, so thought Iād try some pauses at the bottom on 5x10 @ 60kg. During one pause I breathed out and stopped bracing. When I realised I wasnāt going to die I wiggled about a bit adjusted the bar about, had a few breaths and came up. Much less scared of squatting now.
I was mostly joking, @Despade. My āmobilityā/ warm up for squats usually consists of:
Goblet squats, paused at the bottom and pushing my knees out: a few
Maybe stretch the inside of my legs out if I feel really tight
Work up in sets of 2-5 from 40 or 50kg until I hit plus set weight, usually in jumps of 10kg. Some reps will be paused.
I usually get to the plus set in 5mins, sometimes less. If Iām really struggling, or really trying to avoid the plus set, might take me 10mins.
I have been training, just not hard. Band raises, pull ups, ab work and kettlebell swings wherever possible, plus lots of daily activity (averaging 15000 steps a day for the last week).
Nutrition has been on point (until little man baked me some cookies today), hit a new low in bodyweight (since āthe accidentā) yesterday.
Lifting? Not so much. Been a few dramas in the better halfs side of the family this last week so Iāve been struggling to get any dedicated gym time.
Also starting to get the itch to try something new. Or at least get rid of those god awful BBB sets. I think iāll force myself to hold off until my holiday in early september, then assess progress from there.
@boyce79 whereabouts are you based?
@flappinit I love Bristol. I did my degree there and its by far my favourite city
Yeah, my dad did a stint at the university there and so did my mom (sheās British, he wasnāt) and we lived right off the Downs, and i did a year at Bristol grammar school. I stayed very close with a lot of friends there (this was 2002) and I still see my best friend from there 17 years later. Bristol is tons of fun, beautiful, and has a pretty wild party scene. Good times.
Malvern, Worcestershire. Where are you?
Iām way down on the south coast, Brighton area these days but Iāve moved around a fair bit. I grew up in the Cheltenham area.
That must have been an awesome time for you at that age. Honestly, Bristols just such a great place to be young in.
Weigh in yesterday: back up to 187.4lbs. Considerable increase, but I was extremely well hydrated so could be the culprit. Honestly, a few anomalies here and there donāt phase me like they used to.
Work for today:
Bench: worked up to 80kg x 6
Then: 5 x 10 @ 50kg
Deadlift: worked up to 110kg x 15
Then: 3 x 10 @ 70kg
1 x 20 @ 70kg
Pull ups: some
Abs: none
Notes:
Iām starting to feel like this programming is doing very little for me to be honest. Itās also becoming apparent reading others logs that Iām actually extremely unfocused on my goals. Iām running a mass gaining program on a calorie deficit (albeit slight), doing exercises that seem to do more harm than good and generally being a bit bloody minded and silly. I think I need to let a few ideas percolate while I finish this cycle, and consider making a change to a more focussed plan for my goals.
You have to enjoy your training.
Iāve tried a lot of different methods.
You know what Iāve learned? All but one of those programs have done nothing noticeable for me. SGSS was great but I ran it as a method to regain my strength after hip surgery. I wasnāt 100% when I started it.
Iām starting to consider my goals and then trying to train in a manner that I will enjoy. Ideally itās enjoyable and effective.
Donāt be afraid to train your favorite stuff. Perhaps we donāt have to make ourselves miserable to have success.
@simo74 I like a supermarket but I wouldnāt claim to be a fellow from the Aisles.
Actually Iāve only lived in the UK for one out of the past 9 years, but I still go back fairly often.
Iām not allowed in supermarkets, I cost too much.
Are you northern Ireland based, from memory?
Iām not aloud in supermarkets, I prefer to be sneaky.
