Preparations for lockdown 2.0 along with a few other “life” things have made life extra busy so gym sessions have been a little scarce. I’ve been upping the volume on daily push ups and including extra diamond push ups in an effort to keep some progress moving.
Over the next few days I’ll be trying to make my garage gym winter proof for use over lockdown, the only change I can foresee is the inability to safely do push presses at any reasonable weight unless I luck out weather wise, so I’ll have to be thinking more closely there.
Me and my family are pretty lucky that CoVid doesn’t really threaten us health wise or financially, so a little inconvenience here or there doesn’t worry me much.
Press:
5 x 40kg
5 x 50kg
6 x 55kg
8 x 55kg (equal PR, kinda)
48 x 1 @ 60kg
Notes:
Absolute shit session, strength was totally gone. First attempt at the topset was the ugliest, shittiest, sloppiest piece of crap since the last season of GoT. Second attempt wasn’t a lot better. Got slightly angry. First try at 8 x 3 @ 60kg was also so shit I barely ground out a single so I got really pissed and went “fuck you body, you’re doing the work anyway and for trying to pull all this melodramatic shit, you’re doing it twice”. Thus followed about an hour or so of singles while my frustrations gradually subsided.
No assistance work, because 50 work sets is probably enough.
Depending if I feel recovered, I might try and rerun this shit show properly on Wednesday.
Edit: A poor girl tried to come over about halfway through my hour long filibuster of the rack and ask how many sets I had left. Not entirely sure she believed the answer.
I’m just frustrated. I’m not used to underperforming on that kind of scale, particularly when my entire training is currently focussed around one singular goal.
@alex_uk the vast, vast majority of these were singles at ~85% so not exactly ball busting. They did get easier after the first few, so maybe I should have just been a bit more patient.
@ChickenLittle I’ve used 10 x 5 for about 4 months this year, so what happened here is that I’m a massive hypocrite.
@Bagsy “Expect more from yourself”. I do a fair bit to minimise this kind of thing, to be fair. I consistently train exhausted/fasted/sore/whatever so that pretty much every day is a “bad day”. I also deliberately do other things so that even on a really bad day, I can still maintain, if not progress.
Yes you are. Although Warcraft will forever be WC 3. Best game ever, botched remake last year.
Anyways in most boss fights in a dungeon, the boss would reach ‘enrage mode’ if his health points dropped below a certain amount. That would enable him to deal all the more damage and what not. So he fought the harder, the worse his stance was. Often causing the party of players who are fighting him to wipe out just when they thought they’d win.
