Know exactly what you mean here - dark horse has been full of those for me, only really note it when I’ve done the variety several times and know there is some notable improvement, past just learning the movement pattern. That said 100kg paused front squat is decent either way!
Press (ss. Pullups)
5 x 40kg
5 x 45kg
12 x 47.5kg (big PR)
10 x 5 @ 50kg
T-bar row:
2 x 12
1 x failure
Y-raise/incline front delt raise superset
Rear delt destroyer set
Tricep push downs: lots.
Notes:
Wasn’t feeling it tonight, everything after the plus set was feeling heavier than it should.
Wasn’t planning on the tricep extensions until the girl behind the counter started putting plates away and I noticed her triceps looked like someone had stapled a ham hock to the back of her arms. Kinda had to do some arm work after that really.
I have never done a single triceps kickback, so I am going to correct that now while sitting in my chair typing this. There, boom, PR. That was just my right arm, I have the left one to look forward to next time I need a PR.
I’m a podcast-fiend. What do you normally have in your rotation? I can give suggestions if you’d like, and I prefer if I have something to go off of rather than just provide a list of my top tier ones
I’ve only started recently because I got bored of the radio on my commute. So far I’ve gone through a fair few elitefts ones, enough of the Jocko Podcast to get the underlying message and a few others that just didn’t click for me and I barely remember the names of.
Right on, well, that doesn’t surprise me that you listen to things around training and discipline/motivation/…
If you want to mesh your love of Dan John and climbing,
but beyond that I highly recommend
S-Town (you’ll only listen to it once but damn it is good)
And if you like the above, Serial
Citations Needed. Media-critical podcast. Everyone that spends significant time being exposed to pop-culture and media could benefit from listening to this
The Infinite Monkey Cage. It’s like QI but as a radio-show
Believed, harrowing story and cannot be suggested without warning about explicit and disturbing content. Think Epstein, but sports.
The Habitat, the curious story of what happens when groups of people simulate living on Mars and how things that appear lovely the first few weeks become points of contention months later. They truly commit to the simulation, and thus suffer a great deal when things happen on Earth that indirectly affects their emotional state too. Food for thought if anything.
Citation Needed (nope, that’s not! a typo). Notice the absence of an “s”. A bunch of friends take turns reading wikipedia pages and pretending to be experts on the material and relay it to their friends
If you like the above you might like The Dollop, it’s more or less the same but two comedians do it
Reply All, the Crime Machine Part 1 & 2 is a must listen for anyone that has given any thought to the negative impact algorithms and automation might have societally
@Voxel I’ll definitely check some of those out. I usually get about an hour a day of podcasts on my commute so I’ll get some of those downloaded before I return to work.
@ChongLordUno you’re trying to make me fat aren’t you, ya bastard.
@simo74 it’ll probably work for him as well, the good looking bastard.
Not Deep Water style because I don’t time rests. It’s from the 100 rep trap bar workout program that i ran a few years ago. I recommend it for people who want a change of pace.
They were both unfun, but i had my neversate shirt on and the ridiculously jacked girl was training.
