So ignoring all the words for a minute, that is a shitload of pretty good work. And two 2 PRs on the same exercise on the same day.
That aside then, since you seem to be in the mood to nitpick:
Going after a heavy single PR after a rep PR is less than ideal conditions for success. That is probably the main reason it was grindy. But you still managed it.
You already know what I think about SSing those pullups. They are sapping energy from your arms, and that will influence your press. If you must do it, wait until you get to the BBS sets.
No way for me to know, but seems more likely that the PUs are what tweaked your lat (?)
Looking at the numbers, thatās technically 5kg added to a max in 1 month, ignoring all the extenuating circumstances etc. With 4 months to go, and 15kg to make up, I shouldnāt be disappointed. The goal is there for me to take. Got to get after it. Will probably up calories slightly to help the process along. Aim to roughly maintain, and as long as I donāt miss by too much, I should still be under 200lbs by Christmas.
I also note that it wasnāt more than a few weeks ago that you were lamenting all the sub-50 work you were doing. But everything up there was plus-50. That adds up to a lot more work.
Even though we mock the āIāve been lifting 3 months, why donāt I look like the Rock yet? Better hop on the gearā newbies, I think we all secretly expect that to be the case for ourselves. Because we know what weāre doing, right? Weāve read articles.
@aldebaran it is sometimes frustrating to have to explain to people how hard I have to work to look this average, but I have multiple years of bad decisions to make up for, so I have to pay that price. On the bright side, no-one who didnāt know me believes that 2 years ago i weighed upwards of 240lbs, so Iāve done some things right.
@simo74 thatās what he gets for cheating his deadlifts.
If it helps, they likely donāt believe that excuse either. They just donāt want to do the work.
I also have to bear in mind that my idea of āworking hardā is a long way from what people would do if their paycheck and livelihood depended on it. I train, usually 3-5 days a week, often with abbreviated sessions, and generally eat about 90% āto planā. I do no recovery/mobility work, minimal sleep etc. So my version of āworking hardā is very different from someone whoās actually invested in this 100%
Same here, although I really donāt know whatās causing this. I want to say the peak Iām currently doing? I canāt say but my hunger is off the charts.
