10 Miles Back Again

So ignoring all the words for a minute, that is a shitload of pretty good work. And two 2 PRs on the same exercise on the same day.

That aside then, since you seem to be in the mood to nitpick:

  1. Going after a heavy single PR after a rep PR is less than ideal conditions for success. That is probably the main reason it was grindy. But you still managed it.
  2. You already know what I think about SSing those pullups. They are sapping energy from your arms, and that will influence your press. If you must do it, wait until you get to the BBS sets.
  3. No way for me to know, but seems more likely that the PUs are what tweaked your lat (?)
  4. Stop being a whiny bitch.

But still…PRs!

@Koestrizer and @Cyrrex did a sufficient job of chewing you out over moaning about double PRs so I’ll ignore that bit.

Great work on the PRs particularly going for 1rm after a rep pr! Stress=PRs.

Yep who the heck does this, well other than @Cyrrex with his sneaky jokers

@alex_uk @Cyrrex @Koestrizer @simo74

Yes, I was being a whiny little bitch.

Looking at the numbers, that’s technically 5kg added to a max in 1 month, ignoring all the extenuating circumstances etc. With 4 months to go, and 15kg to make up, I shouldn’t be disappointed. The goal is there for me to take. Got to get after it. Will probably up calories slightly to help the process along. Aim to roughly maintain, and as long as I don’t miss by too much, I should still be under 200lbs by Christmas.

I also note that it wasn’t more than a few weeks ago that you were lamenting all the sub-50 work you were doing. But everything up there was plus-50. That adds up to a lot more work.

I’m quite hard on myself with these things. I’m sure there are some people on here who could relate to that.

No idea who that could be.

Yer don’t know what you mean, @Koestrizer isn’t that bad :joy::joy:

Yeah and 5kgs in this instance is a 8% increase… In a month… On the hardest to improve of the big lifts. That is really great progress.

To be fair, that could apply to plenty of people on here. It’s pretty often I read something along the lines of:

Low readiness today, high stress
PR
PR
New World Record
A bit disappointed today, I was going for a new world record and and medal of honour.

Probably because it’s hard mentally and physically to push yourself for weeks and months, but this is when it pays off

100% yeah.

Even though we mock the ā€œI’ve been lifting 3 months, why don’t I look like the Rock yet? Better hop on the gearā€ newbies, I think we all secretly expect that to be the case for ourselves. Because we know what we’re doing, right? We’ve read articles.

Yeah yeah but the Rock has top genetics, and has been knowing what to do and applied it for decades and then hopping on gear ahahahah

I know I shouldn’t have eaten that chocolate bar yesterday, but…

Now you are just picking on @guineapig :joy:

@aldebaran it is sometimes frustrating to have to explain to people how hard I have to work to look this average, but I have multiple years of bad decisions to make up for, so I have to pay that price. On the bright side, no-one who didn’t know me believes that 2 years ago i weighed upwards of 240lbs, so I’ve done some things right.

@simo74 that’s what he gets for cheating his deadlifts.

Yeha that’s why I always shake my head with distress when I hear someone telling me they’re afraid they’ll get too big lol

If it helps, they likely don’t believe that excuse either. They just don’t want to do the work.

I also have to bear in mind that my idea of ā€œworking hardā€ is a long way from what people would do if their paycheck and livelihood depended on it. I train, usually 3-5 days a week, often with abbreviated sessions, and generally eat about 90% ā€œto planā€. I do no recovery/mobility work, minimal sleep etc. So my version of ā€œworking hardā€ is very different from someone who’s actually invested in this 100%

:joy::joy::joy::joy: funniest thing you will ever hear someone say about weight training.

In other news: my hunger the last few days has been next level.

I think probably a knock on effect from a lack of nutritional discipline recently. Certainly isn’t from training, because I hadn’t been.

Same here, although I really don’t know what’s causing this. I want to say the peak I’m currently doing? I can’t say but my hunger is off the charts.
