Zyzz Found Dead

Wait. I’m sorry. I just want to make sure I have this right…

He was a 22 year old kid who created a massive internet following because he had a great physique (nicer than most posters here) and liked to talk about how awesome his life was and all the girls he banged owing to that physique.

He’s getting hated on because he wasn’t big enough for dudes on the internet to consider him impressive by bodybuilding standards.

Good physique? Check.
Sleeps with lots of girls? Check.
Understanding of his strengths? Check.
Willingness to exploit them to make a living? Check.
Makes money doing something he enjoys? Check.
22 year old kid making more money than many grown men? Check.

Yea, he totally sucks. Who’d want all of that.

I’m sorry he passed and sorry for his family.

I always wondered who that guy was, people kept saying Zyzz this, Zyzz that. It sounded so much like Jizz that I was afraid to google it.

What do you mean by “he overdid it with cheap steroids?”
The article you posted said he had a congenital heart defect. Steroids were not mentioned.[/quote]

There’s an article by a local Australian newspaper which includes a comment by one of his friends. It was something like Zyzz with steroids was like a kid with free candy and that he should slow down. I didn’t paste it because the source was Facebook (Zyzz’s fan page I think) and in my opinion, it’s not credible enough.

That’s a thread about him from June. He was selling his own protein powder.

Not so bad for a “nobody”.

How am I “hating on him”? He was arrogant, but I’d hardly call pointing that out “hating”…

Well, firstly, I wasn’t singling you out specifically–if you click the link to the other thread, there were plenty of people “hating” on him.

Secondly, I consider arrogance to be a myth. It’s a word used to describe people who have “too much” confidence, which I think is silly.

Thirdly, calling someone a shameless self-promoter is intended as an insult, no matter how you slice it; regardless of whether it was a) measurable or b) true.

With regard to that, I’ll just point out that all of the most successful people on the world got there because they felt they were pretty awesome.

You don’t run for president if you don’t think you’re awesome. You don’t try out for a movie role if you don’t think you’re awesome. You don’t apply for a job if you don’t think you’re awesome.

All of those things are forms of self-promotion. The bottom line is that if you don’t promote yourself, no one else will.

Zyzz thought he was the shit. With regard to his measure of what that meant, he WAS. Well, people (not you specifically) are hating on him because they have a different definition of “what is best in life” (yes, I worked a Conan reference in).

Sucks that a young kid died.

Great post!

It does suck that a young kid died - I couldn’t agree more.

However I couldn’t disagree more about your “arrogance as a myth” belief. There’s self confidence, and then there’s just being a self-important prick. Self confidence is healthy, being hugely arrogant is not. No one likes an asshole.

I once saw this kid refer to a girl who gave him a compliment as “genetic garbage that he wouldn’t touch” - any way you slice it, that kind of shit is not cool.

+1

From what I understand,he did Tren and Coke and went into a Sauna AND on top of that,he had a heart defect. Doesnt take a rocket surgeon to figure out how he’d go out. One of the thai people he was staying with describe that “Zyzz was like a kid at a candy store” regarding the drugs and girls.

Pretty much this.

I agree, it’s not cool for him to insult her (however creatively). I don’t care for that.

We’re going to run into an issue with words and our own reactions to both denotation and connotation.

For me:

Vanity: being exceptionally concerned with appearance or achievements. <== okay
Conceit: thinking that your appearance makes you superior to other in any regard BUT appearance. <== Not okay

ex - it’s fine to understand that you’re better looking than someone. It’s not okay to think that makes you a better person than them.

Arrogance doesn’t factor in, because the actual definition talks about self-importance–and, again, I truly believe that in order to achieve success, you need to feel you are important.

I dislike Zyzz’s comment about the girl mainly because it’s rude and hurtful. The underlying thought that she simply isn’t good looking enough (by his standard) for him to hook up with is, to me, completely fine.

For people who believe in arrogance, it’s not fine–despite the fact that we all make such distinctions constantly.

I’m not saying he wasn’t abrasive, and in that instance he was a bit of a dick.

he gets a lot of hate because he’s a known steroid user.

I agree with all of that. And in the end, a 22 year old kid with his whole life ahead of him is gone, and that’s heartbreaking. As a parent myself, no one should have to bury their child - it’s the worst nightmare I can imagine.

To just make a point with regard to my initial post on this thread:

What I dislike about the Zyzz"hate" is that it seems to stem from people making judgements about him not being that big, or not having competed, or not having “achieved” anything impressive with regard to bodybuilding.

Hating him based on that–which, yes, IS what’s going on in many regards–would qualify as “arrogance” on the part of these people, who seem to think they’re the assumed mouthpieces of the bodybuilding community, simply because they are judging his character based on a lack of physical or experience based credibility.

Equally idiotic.

And as far as that goes it’s fucking retarded. The guy had a very nice physique, quite aesthetic and proportioned. The whole “If you’re not Ronnie Coleman you’re not big” thing is ridiculous.

People are literally afraid to say anything good about a smaller sized guy because god forbid some of the loudmouths around here would give them endless shit for not being “hardcore”.

Total fucking nonsense.
