Your Political Philosophy

This is probably the closest label to what I am as well.

I didn’t think you were quite as conflicted about all of this as you are. I’ve always been a shades-of-grey guy myself and, as I’ve gotten older, that’s only intensified. The only thing I’m sure of now is that nothing is black-and-white. Nothing. I suppose this falls into the category of: the more you learn, the less you know.

Pretty simple really, we all found this site because we like the iron game. To make real changes to your physique you need yo set goals and have the discipline to follow through with those goals, taking personal responsibility. All of that takes an internal locus of control. Also you need a healthy dose of pragmatism and cynicism to sift through the bullshit of the fitness and supplement industries.

Goal oriented behavior and personal responsibility tend to be things capitalists hold dear. Success coaches go so far as saying ā€œtake extreme responsibility, everything is your fault.ā€ Hence the right wing tilt.

All of the respected Dem posters here are some of the most reasonable leftists I’ve ever seen (@EyeDentist, @Tyler23, @pfury…etc) . They have those listed traits, they just realize that not everyone else will, and favor public policy that helps those left behind. Contrast this to histrionic lefties like my sister, who you can’t disagree with on any subject without being a ā€œfascistā€.

Given that I despise every politician I ever met and have equal disgust for both the Democrats and Republicans, along with my 5 rules of life, this about sums me up. Along with one addition: As long as you are not a pedophile, I don’t care who you sleep with.

You know, I am a simple knuckledragger, all I want is some genuine leadership for our country. You leave for the boonies looking for terrorists and come back to the MSM and the absolute stupidity of both parties, what the hell are we doing as a country?

You know, I have always been a ā€œmild conservativeā€ but in the last election my write- in candidate was Rand Paul. Why? because of a statement he made on the trail: " No More Nation Building" . The most intelligence statement I heard during that debacle of presidential election.

I don’t know if the OP wanted us arguing our POV in this thread. Suffice to say I disagree with you. Marxism of every flavor requires a powerful government and central planning. That doesn’t work.

You can do a search, there have been more than one ā€œcapitalism doesn’t workā€ threads. They go on for many posts with people slinging studies and economists quotes at each other. Zero minds changed. So I’m good with us disagreeing. Have a good one.

I hope so considering there isn’t a single accurate statement in that talking point vomit.

In a minarchism are midgets in charge or something? If so, I’m on board. If not well, I guess I gave away what my political philosophy is based on.

communist with a small ā€˜c’.

Kidding. I don’t really have one anymore, and I think that’s a good thing. The world needs less idealism and more people willing to work on practical solutions to the world’s problems.

And lots of bodies. Seriously. You can’t have proper Marxism without a shitload of people being killed.

I’m talking from experience.

My economic philosophy can be summed up with the exact opposite statement. The market only creates jobs that are necessary.

Necessary to produce the product the market demands, or as @NickViar aptly put it, desires.

Oh this old canard. Define fascism for me. Then you can explain for me how a bunch of Marxists, attempting to introduce a marxist society, with thousands of students, studying Marx as holy writ, becoming members of their bureaucracy to aid them, decided to implement a non marxist society.

Fascism is as close to socialism or communism as you are going to get.

If you want to look at the way American Indians lived for inspiration, do it to see that many different governing bodies can exist within a landmass currently controlled by one body.

ā€œBasically,ā€ or just ā€œare?ā€ Do people in the third world choose to work in sweatshops, or are they forced to do so? If they choose to, is it possible(even probable, or self-evidently true) that sweatshops allow them a better life than they would otherwise have? If they are forced to, then that is socialism/communism/fascism.

I realize that people who share your beliefs are often emboldened by those who disagree but concede, ā€œwell, sometimes duh gubmint needs tah interfere cuz da greed, but daz not tru at dis time in murica.ā€ I do not.

Define choice. If someone puts a gun to your head and gives you a choice to avoid getting your head blown off, you do have a choice. And just because one thing is better than another doesn’t make it good especially if the worst option exists because of the very people who are giving you the better one.

I would say putting a gun to someone’s head and offering him a ā€œchoiceā€ is the very definition of coercive force(fascism, or communism or socialism-in-practice). I agree that merely being better than something else doesn’t make something ā€œgood.ā€ I know that even somewhat better is an evil to the socialist/communist/fascist since that makes it possible that one person(a non-ruler) will get more joy than another instead of both suffering equally.

If your choice is work in a diamond mine, or wherever they find them, or starve and the very reason why you will starve is because of the people who run the mines then that is just like a gun to your head.
