this is why i choose to buy things from walmart, with a receipt they will exchange back anything…if i say my xbox is fried, they hand me a new one.
JUST KEEP THE RECEIPT!!!

Might as well get it as a cheap blueray player and as a system that can play amazing games.
All you have to do is wait for those amazing games to come out. Motorstorm is visually stunning, but it’s not worth buying the system for it.
If you like jrpgs,go for a PS3. If you’re more into FPSs, western rpgs, and are looking forward to a Ninja Gaiden sequel, opt for a 360. Also, the general consensus from the different gaming websites is that 360 versions of multiplatform games are usually superior.[/quote]
Its the same for any system, Takes about 8 months to put out any decent games(tho I will say resistance is awesome). Lair is going to be an awesome game.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. If I get a 360, I am going to look into an additional warranty from Best Buy or Circuit City. I have the original Xbox so I really didn’t want to switch over. One of the reasons is a 360 allows me to play my old Xbox games. I have a separate DVD player, so I will avoid using it for that unless I get an occassional HD DVD.
In defense of the crashes, it does sound like it happens to people who put alot of heavy use on the system, leaving it on all day, hours upon hours of play, etc.
360 can only play a few of the 360 games.

…and that sucks. I won’t have to keep my PS2 if I get a PS3 just to play God of War.
It does sound like X-Box has the better online play…so if that is what you are into, then go with it. I just don’t think Sony will be that far behind especially since most people haven’t even upgraded just yet.
As soon as they come off a hundred bucks on the price, the sales should go up.
I won’t be buying one until around October anyway. It may be later than that if I think they will drop the price for Christmas.

if by a few, you mean any worth playing, and easily over 150, including all the flagship titles…

then yes.

See, that’s the thing – Sony loses money on every PS3 they sell at today’s price, reportedly because they specified such expensive material inside. I just wonder whether the price really can come down unless they can spec enough volume to reduce the component cost.
I guess we’ll see. In the meantime, Sony’s sucking wind.
Sales havn’t been updated since april 12th. In the same time frame it has outsold 360. A new report is supposed to come out sometime in june.
John, did you mean the 360 can only play a few XBOX original games, or were you being sarcastic?
By the way Prof, I was reading some complaints about PS3 crashes as well, some people said they are on their second system already. Noty trying to put the PS3 down, just saying it is not without its faults as well.
It is absurd we are even talking about these high priced systems crashing. I know people with original NES’s still playing their systems. Now we have $400+ machines that become overpriced paperweights after a few months of use. I guess the saying “they don’t make em like they used to” rings true here.

Well, that may not be fair. They also never made them to be entire home entertainment centers before. Comparing the original NES to a PS3 or new X-box is almost like comparing a typewriter to a PDA with internet capability.
You can literally play games with people across the damn globe now in real time.

I was serious, they only play a limited amount of xbox games.
hey x,
sony just released a firmware update for ps3. It now upscales dvds and ps1/ps2 games to full hd over hdmi. Quite the nice update. It also lets you stream media from your pc to the ps3.
Ive owned a ps3 since launch and couldnt be happier. Resistance is great and so is Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Once lair, heavenly sword, killzone and drakes fortune come out the ps3 will pick up huge.
Im also a warhawk beta tester and let me tell you that game is awesome. It will definately move consoles.
I wonder if the “Elite” model addressed any of this. I know it has a bigger HDD and an HDMI output but I wouldn’t be shocked if Microsoft sneaked a fix in with it.
Well go back and read what you wrote lol. I was confused for a minute there.

I see what you’re saying but you missed my point. If you are plunking down that kind of cash for something, it better last longer than a few months. Yes, I understand they are being used for more than just a gaming system. My point is that with newer technology you SHOULD get something more reliable.
Would you buy an expensive television or computer that quit working after a few weeks or a few months? Many of the complaints I read on amazon, people said they only used it for a gaming system and still had problems.

I agree with you. That’s why I wait…because the glitches don’t seem to get worked out until damn near a year after the system has been on the market. Maybe they don’t factor in “geek play” which can account for days of constant usage at full power.
Yeah, I like to play video games but I am not hardcore about it. My job, lifting weights, sports, and practicing guitar fills my day enough as it is. I’m not really the type to sit down and play for hours on end. As I said before too, whether I get a 360 or a PS3 I won’t be running it for hours at a time. If I want to watch DVDs it will be on my player.

EVEN IF IT CRASHED AFTER 3 DAYS IT WOULD BE WORTH IT TO PLAY HALO III
FINISH THE FIGHT

Thank you ![]()
Get the 360, just make sure it’s one of the later 2006 models (october and upwards).

There is simply no way that game can possibly live up to it’s own hype.
