Btw, doesn’t he look like Xavi Alonso?
Can Argentina please score?! This is the mediocrity I’m talking about…[/quote]
ask and thou shalt recieve…80’ into the game.

That’s right!
And the second goal by Palermo makes me sooo happy. He’s just, like, such a super guy. You know?
Vamos Argentina!!! We’re gonna take this cup baby.
Great day of soccer, all those who were complaining about a boring World Cup and low goal totals can go sit in the corner now and wear the dunce cap.
Can’t wait to watch USA and England play simultaneously tomorrow. This simultaneous play has to be one of the cooler things in sports, especially since those moving on and those getting knocked out can hinge on a single shot or stop in either game.
The Greek goalie was by far their best player this game.
Argentina is going wall the way baby!
Good to see the end of the French. Adieu les Bloeds! Also good to see that the “revolution” within the English camp didn’t come to much. Francis Parkman would not be surprised.
Now I can get down to nervously awaiting tomorrow’s games. I really don’t understand English psychological fragility. It wasn’t always there. An article in the Globe recently ended with, “Winston Churchill wouldnâ??t give these guys the time of day.” And there are teams that play with more pressure to win (e.g., Canada’s in hockey.) Other teams (e.g. the Germans) are just amazingly solid psychologically, all the time.
Hadn’t realised there were other swimmers on this board. I blame swimming (or rather, the poorly designed weight program that went along with it) for my chest/triceps dominant imbalances.

This comment was funny and cute…I have killer triceps, too, and dominant front shoulders.
But most of all, a very gratefully a V taper that men have envied for years and it is bigger then my husband’s.
I wouldn’t mind seeing your Spain and Mascherano’s Argentina have a bash - with Spain then winning by the hand of Gog - wouldn’t that be a an unforgettable pay back time?!
Sorry Mash, I really like the Menudo boys ( what is up with all the 80’s hair styles?)
but I just have to see Maradona’s reaction on that one!
Argentina really gave us a nice show there at the end but the best player of the game was, in my opinion, the Greek goal keeper: Played like a demi-god.

Hahaha! That was both funny and horrific at the same time…
Best comment on the vuvuzela in the entire World Cup!
You must be jubilant over France being striped naked and found wanting at this World Cup.
I would.

I think the last time we showed real nerve was in the 2005 ashes … but I can’t expect 99% of the people on this board to understand what I’m even talking about.
SHOCK NEWS!
ENGLAND ARE GETTING A NEW COACH!
Its picking them up on thursday. Hehe.
Today’s outlook:
Every team from Group C (England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia) can book a place to the knockout stages. Here is how:
Group C: Slovenia will qualify if they draw against England, although if they lose, they will still go through as long as the United States and Algeria draw.
England have to win to stand a chance of topping the group but if both they and the US draw their respective games, England would need to score two goals more than the US (eg 2-2 as opposed to 0-0) just to stand a chance through the drawing of lots. Three goals better in those final draws would send England through on the number of goals scored overall.
Algeria are certain to go through if they beat the US by two clear goals.
I hope America wins, they’ve been playing well and deserve to go through.
I can’t say as much for England, but we’ll see what happens!

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the US deserve to go through a lot more than we do at the moment. They’re playing their arses off.

HAHAHAHAHAHA…
This is, at least, going to serve as a shock absorber should it all come to the worst!
Oh, COME ON ENGLAND.
I almost don’t want to watch it. ![]()
I can’t believe Fabio Cappelo and the assistant managers are all dressed in shades of grey: from the suit to the tie.
Who was it that said our flag should be “grey square”?
: D
On a funnier note;
John McEnroe just said from Wimbledon:
"The USA in soccer up there with all the great nations…who would have thought…
We will show England how to beat Algeria."
Funny!

USA
USA
USA
If half the guys in that team had half the heart of Rudy Rutt … wait, this isn’t american football.
Come on Eng/USA!
I am very pleased with the new USA lineup. Oguchi Onyewu was not playing at a high enough level and played a hand in every goal that the USA had given up so far.
Herculez Gomez is a gifted striker, has an awesome name, and has been very hot lately, so putting him up front with Altidore looks to be a great move.
LETS GO YANKS!!!
Phew
GOAL!
1-0 England.
