In my last bulking case in which I used a Westside Template, I realized my work capacity is, to put it nicely, less than ideal.
Now Im looking to lose some chunk, and after scraping this stupid hypertrophy program I got from some stupid magazine, I have decided to continue with Westside, I am just going to lift 3x per week instead of the suggested 4, with the day 4 from week 1 becoming day 1 on week 2, so i keep the ME/DE thing going on.
My question is this, to increase my work capacity, which should I attempt of the following:
- on ME days, instead of working up to max singles, what about just a max set of 5? Ex for me, as a 220 bencher:
45x alot, 95x5, 135x5, 155x5, 165x5, 175x5, then 3x5 at 185 or:
45x a lot, 135x5, then something like 8x5, which I have heard good things about, using 185, but probably only getting 3-4 on the last few sets.
Which of these would be best used to increase work capacity. I want to keep DE days, but maybe more sets with a little higher rep range would help me out. Any thought?
Also, I just read the “Cleans as GPP” thread. Would doing that once a week also work?
