Legat, now 59, said an off-duty Gadsden police officer named J.D. Thomas told him about various people he should look out for when he was working. This was around 1981, and Thomas worked security at the mall. One of the people was a pickpocket, he said, while another was someone prone to pick fights.
One was Roy Moore.
“I asked him, ‘What did he do?’” Legat recalled. “He said, ‘If you see him, let me know. I’ll take care of it.’”

Because partisan politics in the country has gotten so bad that there is literally nothing worse than electing a democrat.
I’m not sure it’s really all that much worse than before, or if it’s just a lot more amplified than before.

While of course the media is going to show you the interviews of the extremes, like the woman I saw who said it was all ok because Moore asked for God’s forgiveness (even though he completely denies it), the polls are showing Moore up by six points. This was taken after the allegations surfaced. He’s only lost three points.
I’m going to (possibly delude myself here) just believe that most people are taking an “innocent until proven” stance due to the timing of all this.
In what? 2 weeks? That’s a slide for sure. If it continues, he’s done.
Except the initial article that was published was as well sourced as they come (they had over 30). Plus you had a woman come out yesterday who says she’s willing to testify under oath about what Moore did to her at 16. She showed her yearbook from that year that Moore signed, at 30, saying “To a sweeter more beautiful girl I could not say Merry Christmas. Christmas 1977. Love, Roy Moore, D.A. 12-22-77 Olde Hickory House.”
As for the timing, it’s well known that many women never tell anyone about being sexually assaulted. Perhaps seeing him make a run for the national stage, knowing he was guaranteed to win, was a bridge too far and feel they needed to come out. Every single Republican senator has pulled support and/or said Moore should drop out. Except Rand Paul.

And as we continue to travel down this road it will mean less and less. Sad commentary on the times we live in.
We live in a pretty down and dirty age… Difficult to watch TV, or go to the movies without being hit with sex and obscenities of some sort. One cannot even stand in a line at a drug store without hearing the “F” word from someone standing in that same line. It wasn’t that way 30 years ago. But even so, Bill Clinton was the first to be exposed (and I thought he was a decent President in many respects). But most likely almost every President from Washington to Trump has been involved in some sort of sexual escapade. Thomas Jefferson fathered children from his black (slave) mistress.
With the Harvey Weinstein case fresh in everyone’s minds it’s just a matter of time before many, many more women will pop up claiming some sort of sexual harassment by someone who has either accumulated a certain amount of fame. Politicians, celebrities, sports stars they will all be targets.
Politics is dirty and it’s only going to get dirtier in the short-term. In the long-term people will start to get numb to the never ending accusations and after a time dismiss all but the most serious. I have assumed for many years that the reason a really good top notch business man has never run for President was for this very reason. Maybe soon when it matters less we will actually get better leadership. We will get to a place where we actually have good choices from both parties.
This is honestly meaningless though, and not really proof of anything.
Shit my grandparents talk like that about people that age and they certainly aren’t (weren’t) trying to sleep with anyone.

I know it’s not “proof” but it’s just one more straw for the pile (banned from the mall, etc.). Considering the age difference, it seems a typical response would be to wish them a bright future, etc. The fact that a 30 year old who doesn’t work at the school or have kids of their own there seems a bit off too.

I get what you’re saying, it’s a bad look, but I think we’re getting a bit out of hand when signing a yearbook is proof of anything other than signing a yearbook, you know?

GOP have cut funding and are threatening to evict him if he wins. He should go. These allegations are credible and backed up by other evidence like HIS SIGNATURE.
He’s a creep, and if he stays they should have the state GOP and Trump recommend a write in.

The polls have Moore ahead. If 96% of people in Alabama had a problem with this then he wouldn’t be ahead.
I should add that I understand your feelings. Even though I’m from the Northeast, where everyone thinks Southerners are all rednecks, hillbillies and hicks (we also have our version: Swamp Yankees), I have met many people from the South and believe these characterizations to be unfair.
