Why Mess With Me

Why did you continue past “Ive got 2 more” ? It sounded like he was being respectful enough, but then you practically invited him to comment by explaining the weights you were going to use.

I don’t agree. To me saying that would reinforce the fact that he’s only got 2 sets left. Some guys say they’ve got a couple of sets left and they are talking out their ass; then you’ll see them do 6 more.[/quote]

i agree

I think I better question would be to yourself: Why did that interaction anger you so much that you wanted to come on here and post a thread about it? If you were truly confident in yourself, you would have laughed it off.

Sure I could have laughed it off if it wasnt for the the way the guy approched me and his attitude. If you give attitude to me your gonna get it back. I am confident in what I lift. All Im trying to say is why come up and mess with someone like that. There are better ways to talk to people or to ask a question. Dont just come up with attitude and nonsence. Why mess with people.

And as far as me wanting to post about it I wanted to see if some stuff like that had ever happened to anyone else.

Someone wiser than me once said: “He who angers you, controls you.”

I was in the USMC for 6 years and never compared a set of squats to going to war. Lighten up, Francis. Be happy that you are in good shape and maybe pass on some knowledge to the newbie.

Sorry if it was a bad analogy for you. Just think of something else then. Like a man doing battle with himself or something. Dont take it so literally. And once agian the way the guy approached me there was no way to pass on any knowledge to the young Padawan. Give attitude get it back remember.

Take care of yourself over there.
USMC For 6 years nice. I have great respect for the MC I was lucky enough to fight beside them while I was in Iraq. That was the first time I had ever been around any Marines. Let alone fight with them. Great group of guys.

I can understand where Goku is coming from it is the attitude that they other guy presents not just that they say something, I dont think anyone on this forum (ok may one or two) would go up to a complete stranger and be so rude.

i couldn’t have said it any better myself

I understand getting pysched up for a set and not wanting to be bothered. And the implication that you being ‘too short’ to handle that weight is just silly, I’d be annoyed by a comment like that, maybe enough to push myself a little harder in my workout but I don’t think I’d have altered my workout to reflect that irritation. Most people in the gym are pretty easy to size up and it sounds like you had this guy’s number from the start.

When I’ve worked out in the commerical gyms, like Powerhouse, I was the biggest guy there, no one really had anything to say to me about anything. When I went to the hardcore ‘pit’ type places in the area I mostly shut up and paid attention to what the monsters that worked out in those places were doing to see if maybe I could learn something from them. Now I work out in a gym my buddy and I put together in his basement and dont’ have to deal with the gym crowd at all.

Fucking hilarious. I’ll try that sometime. That oughta work, especially since I’m lilly white.

Goku,

Time to get an iPod or even an old-school discman. Get those headphones on, and no one can talk to you. The conversation would have then gone like this:

Asshole: How many more sets you got?
Goku (takes headphones off): Two. (Puts headphones on, end of discussion.)

Either that, or you need to power up your Kamehameha blast and detonate his shit.

That is definitely a good idea.

That way I can just act like I dont hear them and keep going.

Then if they just keep on jacking with me Ill just hit them with a little of this.

Well, the gym I work out in on base is really small and there are very few people in there most of the time. That is why I like it. And this is the first time I have ever seen that guy in the gym at all. So hopefully he will change his work out time or maybe have a little less attitude when he comes back. I mean I would still talk to the guy if he came back up to me and ask a good question or didnt give attitude.
