Why McCain? I Don't Get It

McCain has got to hammer home how the dems blocked all reform of Fannie and Freddie. I can’t believe he has not done that to any degree yet. But I am still clinging to hope.

This is the sledge hammer that can damage the dems. He better do it because we know the media is way too weak and in the tank to pick it up.

Still a little mind blowing that the masses have not caught on yet to where the virus started.[/quote]

That cuts both ways. The repeal of the Glass-Steagal act is a HUGE contributing factor to the current situation. That was championed by Phil Gramm (and signed off on by Bill Clinton). No, both parties share culpability. And McCain and Obama are both too close for comfort. They’ve both played it the best way. Distract the public and blame it EXCLUSIVELY on Wall Street greed, take government out of the equation as a cause of the problem, and try to the sell the Bailout (which just passed) as the solution.

How so? Do you plan on making an argument as to why, or merely repeating this?

If anything, the repeal of Glass-Steagall with GLB mitigated the problem, as banks had the ability to buy up flagging investment houses.

GLB had no effect on the “moral hazard”-laden policies that created this housing mess.
