Why is the Left so Violent?

Because tolerance… or something

Berkley student op-eds supporting the destruction of property and assaulting people for having different political ideas. …but the left doesn’t have a problem or anything? Quit literally, Berkley students are publicly supporting violence against people who say things they don’t like.

Saul Alinsky call your office. This is what community organizing is all about.

Well this invalidated any conversation that this was a fringe group coming and ruining peaceful protests. They just made every protester culpable in the violence, innocent or not.
Fine with me, it’s what I thought anyway.

There poooooor victims who attend a prestigious and expensive university named after a great philosopher who must be lobbying heaven to have his name removed from that shithole. Poor bastard in turning in his grave.

Well, it makes it clear there is a base of student support for the violence. BUT I’m sure Berkley isn’t mainstream like prominent liberal public speakers at massive rallies aren’t.

IMO the students who wrote this fascist BS supporting violence against speech need to be expelled. Or if Berkley is OK with such instigation, they shouldn’t be getting my tax dollars.

I remember Roosevelt had said some questionable things about Jews and somewhat pro-hitler in the early days of Germany’s Reich. And Henry Ford was a huuuge antisemite. It wasn’t a German phenomenon, they just took it further than everybody else. And it’s sick, still is sick and I cannot see how the tolerant left do not see themselves as antisemitic when their stances lean towards countries hostile to Israel’s existence.
Not just, a dislike of Israel, but a desire to remove them off the map.
I stand with the Mossad, never again.
Actually, I would like the U.S. to model it’s intelligence agencies after Israel’s. Israel always knows whats going on around it and it’s always right.

I remember the morning of 9/11, when everybody was confused as to who did what. Israel released a statement that it was Al Qaeda and Bin Laden specifically. That was minutes after the second tower fell. It was a little blurb off to the side on the CNN web site. The whole thing was a paragraph. They knew who did it in minutes. We need that kind of intelligence. On time and accurate every time.

Amen to that. These university presidents taking shit from the students and capitulating makes me sick. If they don’t like it, send them packing and fill it with a student who wants to be there. They need to be in charge and not be pansies.

Everybody who was involved in the violence needs to be expelled, have criminal and civil charges brought against them, period.

Milo’s Response, very well done…

I don’t know for sure, but I suspect it was a combination of the above – and simply hiring local folks to go collect for you. The concept of professional police force started in Western Civilization in the mid-1800s (it did exist, but not like it started then as a profession).

Banks (or just lenders before banks) simply had armed privateers who got a piece of what they could collect. They could be anyone, Jew, non-Jew, Knight errant down on his luck, etc…

Basically Dog-The-Bounty-Hunter, medieval model.

Liberals don’t like Jewish folk getting off the plantation, but they become totally unhinged when blacks dare think for themselves.

I’ve never cared for Omarosa, but I am deeply troubled this happened to her.

I noticed that especially in this election. There were a few debate vids. where people were asking “Why would you vote against your own interests?”, and I couldn’t help but wonder how someone could know the interests of another person, other than to lump them into a group as “african american interests”- what ever that may be.

Amazing. White libs charging mouth first at black people about their own interests.

I’m certainly aligned with “the Left” on some views and “the Right” on others (and in the aggregate that makes me much more aligned with “the Left” than many who frequent PWI), but this is admittedly one thing that I find extremely irritating about “the Left” - the condescending implication that anyone who is poor / black / gay / other-oppressed-group-here that votes Republican is “voting against their own interests.”

Sometimes I just make up my own terms for stuff. I call that one “Presumption of intelligence”. Someone just assumes that they know better than the person that they are condescending to.

Its weird. I like to hang my hat on some general ideas, but they are still malleable and open to challenge. Most people don’t do that though. What gets silly is when they think that hanging their hat on ideas which are not even their own somehow makes them smart or even omnipotent.

This…people (possibly due to schooling standards/testing practices?) believe that if they regurgitate what they have heard from experts, that they in turn are above average intelligence, what most people forget to realize is that the intelligence comes from understanding, whether it be the argument, the science, the theory, or simply understanding that you know less than you wish and going from there. There is also a terrible notion that once you have endorsed an idea that you have to live or die by it and that if it somehow comes up lacking that it is a direct reflection on yourself as opposed to being able to accept new information coming out and then critically thinking and re-positioning yourself based on all the information available. Not sure when this became the thing to do (stick to your guns no matter the cost) but it seems as if it is occurring more and more.

This x1000. Imo the single biggest problem with the left is not having a full understanding of what truly matters to voters. Everyone has those “top 3” or “top 2” things that matter most, and pretty much everything else can be ignored.

I think this is probably the most important factor for Dems underestimating Trump. Mainstream dems saw all these flaws with Trump, and assumed those flaws would have the same weight with everyone. Hell half of Trumpers readily admit he’s a terrible human being but they believe he’ll make them better off than HRC ever could.

My parents aren’t very political outside of voting, so I didn’t know this for a long time – in our community Republican = Racist, Will Return us to Slavery, Evil Rich White Men ; Democrats = Friend.

If you’re a Black Republican you’re the biggest form of a sellout possible (think Ben Carson , Uncle Ruckus from Boondocks, if any of you have ever seen it - such a great show)

I’m not 100% sure why it is perceived this way, but cutting social programs and voting against things like “The Voting Rights Act,” come to mind. Democrats are perceived as most likely to provide reparations at some point in time for the crime that was Slavery and Jim Crow, even though they won’t talk about it, and of course a fiscal conservative never would. Oh and of course LBJ won a lot of points but was probably just as racist as anyone of his time as evidenced by his famous quote.

Realisticly, when you’re in the poorer part of a historically marginalized group, increases in Federal power don’t bother you because it really can’t get much worse. Truth be told, many African Americans are Socially Conservative Christians but won’t vote in that bloc.

I see your point on government aide; my tribe are the Mescalero Apache, and we’ve done pretty well with ranching, hunting, skiiing, oil, horse races/casinos, etc. We’re probably split on Republican/Democrat, probably slightly more Republican. The Zuni, in contrast, who are 95% dependent on government aide are 100% Democrats, so much so they can change how New Mexico votes as a state when coupled with California imports that have taken over Sante Fe.

Me, I became a Republican slowly — first my biological father was complete garbage and the little I remember of him was his railing against Republicans (he’s now in prison for life for being scum). Anything he said was bound to be wrong.

Then the military. And seeing an enemy emboldened by the Democrats. One smalle example among many: I distinctly remember a well-read copy of “Mother Jones” and several other liberal rags being in the bolt hole of a terrorist we killed.

Then being an engineer and working my ass off in the oilfield and seeing 1/2 my money disappear to people who sat on their asses all day.

Then being confronted with a girlfriend wanting a late term abortion for a healthy baby. I begged her to let me keep and raise the child 100% at my own expense – and her (and a judge) telling me to “fuck off, none of my business.”

And I woke up and realized I was very conservative, probably more so than the spineless twits that are Republicans.

And, as a practical matter, my tribe’s problems (the lazy fucks – we call them Rezrats – Reservation Rats*) are caused by government aide. They couldn’t sit around and smoke pot all day if they had to work. Same for the Zunis.

All those programs do is destroy people. The cynic in me thinks it is on purpose. Slave masters finding another way to enslave. This time with a check, instead of chains and a whip.

Regardless of intent, that’s what happens.

  • I strongly advise against using this term if you are not native. It’s the rough equivalent of “nigger” from a non-black person.

We tried watching that show, the writing is very good. But we couldn’t get past the “n” word every 5 seconds. It’s like Huck Finn on steroids. I honestly started wondering whether the show wasn’t written by a klan member with all of the stereotypes and dialog.

As for Liberals and condescension… I have observed that the two must go hand in hand to a certain extent. If you truly believe in statism and redistribution as the solution to the human condition, then you must also believe the common man can’t be trusted to make their own decisions. They need benevolent overlords to show them the way and give them other people’s money.

Liberals often point out how those with higher level degrees tend to skew left politically. The implication being “smart people are liberals”. I would argue it differently. The more degrees someone has the more faith they have in their superiority. They are far removed from the great unwashed who don’t know any better (in their own minds). So obviously command and control over others is comfortable for them. Because the people running things are real smart.

An anecdote describing this arrogance from my own experience. In sales training for selling investments they showed us that the number one group of individual investors who lose money or go bankrupt in the markets… doctors. I asked why that was, and soon found out while trying to sell. You can’t tell a PhD a damn thing. Why they spent a decade earning advanced degrees. They are one of 100 people on earth who can perform X procedure. Diversification and risk management are for idiots. I would never want a timid nuerosurgen, but I would never let a nuerosurgen pick my investments either.

Thank you both…will respond in detail later. Busy as crap today.

To me the “special snowflakes” are realizing they are not really that special and that is very disconcerting too, at least to them anyway.

The whole mob mentality plays a factor too. A group of like minded people gets together and it will not take much to amp the emotions up.

Recently I read a book titled “Outliers” and one section talked how people in the south are offended and resort to violence easier than their northern counterparts. By no means am I saying a crazy group cannot be from any portion of America, but the book presented the evidence that the south is different from the north because of heritage.

Just my .02 ; )
