Same here. Since I was 12.
Looks like young people are getting dumber:
I think the problem is that most people are unable to see through the bias, and the bullshit in the media. Everything that is said on Fox/CNN is the gospel.
But then again, old people are just as bad.

Are you sure, lol?
Young people don’t watch the news. They watch MTV and clowns like John Stewart.
Everyone knows it’s “cool” to hate Fox News, so I doubt that’s where they’re getting their misinformation.
Here, this thread should explain it to you:
Young people are simply idiots. That’s why they vote liberal.
Women, too.

Well I would prefer they held an election and no one showed up. Showing up and voting just legitimizing a corrupt system. Anyone who thinks voting for either of those tools will make one whit of a difference, should immediately be showed the error of their ways. No matter which wins the same exact thing will happen. Can anyone actually point out where the two idiots differ in anything other than semantics? They are the same except one is old, crusty, white, and insane and the other is young, fresh, black, and insane.
I know it is odd and counter to everything you have been taught but ignore the process. Those who are informed and choose not to vote because they see the illegitimacy of the system are really the only ones who have earned the right to complain. Everyone else who voted for one or the other of two rotten, miserable, thieving, conniving con men has lost the right to complain afterwards because they obviously supported the system and got exactly what they wanted. While people like me have it forced at gunpoint onto them.
I have a right to complain, you do not.[/quote]
you could move to China or Russia and complain there. No voting is the same as fence sitting. You can’t make up your mind so you pull this crap about being allowed to complain blah blah blah. That’s rediculous and both are very differnt men regardless of what they say their past, up bringing, and personal experience which are different will affect the way they run the country. You are just making up an excuse to not get your lazy ass up and go vote.

Some good points in your post. The thread you linked to is revealing as well. I agree, most of these new young voters that showed up in droves to vote Democrat in this election, are complete idiots who don’t know anything about politics, except what they see on the Jon Stewart show between bong hits and handfuls of cheetos.

The amusing thing is that these young liberals consider themselves sophisticated. They’re hip, witty, “in-tune” with the times. The appeal of sarcasm knows no bounds.
Since people can be known by their heroes, one might examine the heroes of the current generation, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. These are two individuals who make a living by openly ridiculing others without exposing themselves to ridicule in turn.
When Tucker Carlson interviewed Stewart on Crossfire and pointed out the latter had given up opportunities to grill liberal politicians, Stewart’s reply took the form of a weak denial of culpability:
“Hey man, don’t put that on me, the show leading into mine is puppets”, implying that he had no responsibility or obligation to evoke a balanced political discourse on his show.
He went on to criticize CNN’s own political bias, apparently not recognizing any inherent hypocrisy in this gesture.
What can we learn from this?
That Jon Stewart wants to be simultaneously relevant, witty, and sophisticated in his ridicule of people in the news, yet would like to remain totally immune from any backlash he might receive as a consequence of his views.
The man wants to have it both ways. Privileges without their accompanying responsibilities. Sound familiar?
It’s the attitude of women in this age. It’s the attitude of the youth. It’s the attitude of liberals.
We’ve seen this all before.
People like Jon Stewart can’t be challenged in debate because they have never formally made any assertions of their own. All they do is ridicule others under the banner of sarcasm. The most one can hope to achieve against them is to reveal their ulterior motives.
I’ve noticed that Americans in general, particularly those living on the coasts, have a very annoying habit of constantly mistaking sarcasm for wit. This is nothing short of a sickness.
Sarcasm is NOT humor, you ignorant loafs.
I live in Boston, so I get constant exposure to this.

for the most part I agree. I’ve annihilated people when they start opening their mouth about politics. It happened several times a day during the election. It made some people not so happy when they were exposed for not knowing anything.
That’s why I hate elections. Few things are uglier to watch than Democracy in action.
Anyone that watches John Stewart and bases their political views off his are just plain dumb. At the same time if you watched the interview on crossfire or whatever it’s called Stewart made some good points. He is on a channel called COMEDY CENTRAL. It isn’t his fault people are dumb enough to listen to what is supposed to be humor and then vote accordingly. The man is trying to earn a pay check like every other comedian what ever way he can. He shouldn’t have to be responsible when his show is meant to be funny. That is equivalent to saying SNL should change their skits because the way they portray Bush is Treason and the way the treat all the other politicians just isn’t fair to them. It’s a T.V. show if or kids were raised to know the difference we wouldn’t have this problem, but that’s the problem kids are raised by television instead of parents these days.

So are the people he goes after.
He’s a hypocrite. He wouldn’t be a hypocrite if he admit that it’s all a ruse, and told people that he has nothing against GWB, but he doesn’t. He clearly endorses liberal positions. He’s a left-wing ideologue, and that’s not part of his act. It’s part of him.
If you say something, you are responsible for it, period. I don’t care what you are being paid to do.

I don´t think that a comedian with a fake news show is the problem.
The news shows that are deteriorating into some sort of MTV clone are.
The gap is narrowing, but not because of him.

The fact that an otherwise intelligent human (electrical engineer/computer engineer) being would throw his brain out the window and give into to rabidity is quite unnerving to me.
Many of my closest friends are engineers… all smart, but smart in their own engineering world.
Every single problem in the world can be thought of as an engineering scenario. Or so I’ve found.
What is “engineering talent” if not a highly analytical mindset?
There’s a common stereotype which holds that engineers lack social skills because “people aren’t logical” and the former group is so accustomed to working with “logical” processes. As someone who considers himself to have been born of the “engineering mindset”, I take issue with this perception because human behavior is simply a manifestation of natural, biological processes. And biology is logical. It is a natural science whose fundamental axioms can be observed and applied to problems in order to establish definitive solutions.
I believe that engineering processes are highly applicable to social problems. It simply requires an understanding of human behavior within the larger context of biological mechanisms.
I’m the most analytical person that I’ve come across and yet, my social skills are better than most. I don’t personify the stereotypical engineer. I’m not mildly autistic, either.
For an example of a scientific analysis of human behavior as written by a mathematician, see here:

Did you read those articals??? You reckon that guy has social skills? Wow!

So because he has a TV. show he has to act impartial? He can’t have an opinion like you or I?
I don’t care how impartial you try and be everyone is going to lean towards their beliefs. So he is a liberal…fine it is his right to be what he wants, but to blame his show for turning people against Bush or for Obama is a lame argument.
Do you honestly think he isn’t going to spend the next 4 years bashing Obama to get the same reaction out of his viewers? He is going to do what ever sells. He isn’t on capital hill or CNN reporting “impartially” he is being FUNNY! Stop using a comedian as your scapegoat because you?re pissed about the election.
I have an idea go sit outside his studio and protest maybe he’ll change his ways.
So should we boycott Arnold Schwarzenegger movies or press conferences because he endorsed McCain or cancel Oprah because she is for Obama. They are both very popular more so then John Stewart, but no one is complaining about them. How about SNL they tear everyone apart we should throw them in jail right? Its TV not reality learn the difference.

The point is that Stewart openly criticizes everyone else on TV for engaging in political punditry, but turns around and does it himself. Then when someone calls him on his bullshit, he throws up his hands and says “Who me? I’m just a little ol comedian! This is satire! Don’t take it seriously!” He claims infallibility just because “I do the funny!” He got Crossfire canceled because of his bullshit, and NOW HE DOES THE SAME FUCKING THING!
If he didn’t want people to take his show seriously, then why does he inject his opinion into his show? Why does he interview ranking government officials? Why does he cover politics at all for that matter?
Bill fuck-ass Maher does the same shit. I literally can’t stand that asshole. He claims that his whole show is just an act, just satire, just funny. Bullshit. Stewart, Maher, et. al. are no better than Limbaugh, Hannity, Olbermann, Mathews, etc…

Rating…to answer most of your questions rating. He does it to make his show more popular and to make more money. CNN hosted crossfire shouldn’t they be “asking the tough questions”. Comedy central host the daily show…COMEDY CENTRAL! Why did SNL get Palin and McCain…to make money? They make fun of Palin did that hurt her chances of being VP? Probably so why isn’t that a big deal?
As far as I’m concerned if you let John Stewart or Rush Limbaugh or who ever else sway your vote with their words you are weak minded and should stop talking.
The main point is it IS a TV show developed to cause controversy in all things not just politics. He just uses what is out there to get his ratings. That means in election years he pushes politics.

And you’re arguing that partisanship is acceptable in news, but somehow not in entertainment?

You ever listen to Limbaugh’s show? His show could also be described as entertainment. In fact, I think that’s what it is. I’m not saying that Limbaugh is better than Stewart, I am claiming that people like Limbaugh, Maher, Stewart, Olbermann, etc… Are all pretty much the same. The only difference is Stewart’s bullshit hypocrisy.
Why is it that when Limbaugh does it, it’s “partisanship” but when Stewart does it, it’s “satire”? They are doing the same act, mocking the same people, and injecting their own slant on all of it. But for Stewart, he gets to claim that everyone ELSE is wrong for engaging in the same behavior he does.
Stewart’s a fucking hypocrite, condescending, partisan HACK. Just like the rest of them. Remember when he went on Crossfire and said that shows like that were “hurting America”? The same exact thing can be said about his show.

I disagree they are not the same. I have listened to Limbaugh and he is on conservative talk radio. He doesn’t make fun of anyone he may point out their flaws and why they shouldn’t be elected, but his show is not “satire”
Intelligent individuals do no turn on COMEDY CENTRAL TO GET THEIR NEWS FROM THE DAILY SHOW. They turn it on to laugh period. If people are taking the show literally then they are idiots and you should try and educate them. Write a book about the evils of the daily show or something.
Everyone in Hollywood is a hypocrite by your logic. How about all the idiots like Matt Damon that star in action/war movies, but cry all day about the war and how terrible it is and how wrong Bush is. Should we stop watching their movies because of their political views?
I guess that makes you a hypocrite if you watch their shows or listen to them as well right?
