Why Don't Laws Make Sense?

It’s not enough to believe your life was in danger but that it was reasonable to believe it.

And it would be hard to make the case that you feared for your life after you follow your fleeing attackers.

Edit: Think about a burglar(even in a Castle Doctrine State). The criminal, having broken into your home, can be justifiably shot by you(homeowner/resident). However, you shoot twice and miss with both before the burglar exits your home and runs away. You then follow the burglar outside, continue shooting, and hit him. You have likely left behind the protections of the Castle Doctrine, and may have to rely upon some other justification—meaning you may have to defend your actions in court.

Wouldn’t that be a robber rather than a burglar?

Breaking into somewhere you’re not supposed to be to take something that isn’t yours constitutes burglary.

Robbery is taking something that isn’t yours by force or threat of force.

I think in most cases it is justified to shoot a burglar in your home before he becomes a robber.

This is important to understand when judging the character of The Hamburglar, who never wanted to hurt anyone during his burglary spree.

Doesn’t burglary occur at an unoccupied location though? Otherwise, one takes from the owner.

I imagine the specific details of “burglary” laws might change depending on jurisdiction, but the charge isn’t contingent on anyone besides the burglar being absent or present where I live.

Good to know. Curious how things vary.

Agreed.

this is a bit of a derail, I thought it not appropriate to put this in the Trump thread, it isn’t his fault (does he enable it?)

He mentions that a lot of the people alive today are descended in some amount of children born of rape and incest. Yes, but then different people would have been born, and I don’t think there would have been fewer. If the available resources are the same, the same number of people would arise as the result.

Of course, if we could travel back in time and make a new present, there would be a radical shakeup and maybe the time travellers would erase their own lives coming back (if that is how that would work, I just guess) so nobody would really want that happening. It is just not likely we will build a time machine, and even if a wormhole in space could do it, it is too far away to travel to.

Imagine how dumb the people who voted for him are.
