Who's Doing What They Love

“The price one pays for pursuing any profession or calling is an intimate knowledge of its ugly side.” – James Baldwin

The above noted quote was the “strong words” once on this site and I remembered reading it and thinking it described my situation exactly. I worked very hard to achieve my dream job only to find out when I started that there was way too much bullshit and it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

I can’t imagine a job, other than maybe being a professional athlete, that I would choose to do if I didn’t need the money.

No matter what you do, if you do it long enough, it’s bound to get boring sometimes. Even rock and roll.

ENJOY your job, but love your LIFE enough to make it worth living.

I am a Children’s Minister: I work in the Church as the Minister / Pastor to Children. I knew I wanted to work in the Church as early as 9th grade. I flirted with engineering, medical, and even military opportunities in High School, but I knew at High School graduation where I wanted to go.

I have been in ministry for 15 years. I have SPECIALIZED in different areas, but am now working with children only. All fields DO have their ugly side that must be tolerated. Don’t think that you will like EVERYTHING about ANY job.

But what do you LIKE about what you are doing? When you can’t answer that question, it may be time to move on. If you are spending 40+ hours of your life doing something each week, you ought to enjoy it (at least mind it tolerable).

Look to specialize in what interests you. It is exciting to grow and beat challenges you have set for yourself. It is defeating to feel trapped at the dead end of a job you don’t feel committed to any more. Are you growing or stagnating? The difference is often the effort we put into what we are doing.

Did anyone else find this line slightly ironic?

I find that proper grammer on an online forum to be as usefull as tits on a nun.

Typos are one thing but when you make such a blatant mistake it makes you look ignorant or very subtle.

Who gives a fuck? I sure don’t.

I am a multi-multi-billionaire with homes all over the world and glamorous vixens stalking me and I hate every minute of it. Life is soooooo boring.

Bingo.

My dream job? Inheriting a trust fund.

Sorry to be a downer, but, damn, I’ve just never wanted to be anything other than somehow rich.

No career has ever called out to me, so I just go with my strengths and take college classes about stuff I like rather than what will net me the biggest pile of money.

However, I am waiting on my application to be processed to sit for my National Certification for Massage Licensure exam, so we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve found that I am better than good at this, and being able to make people feel better is pretty frikin cool mang.

If you really didn’t care, why would you take the time to capitalize and punctuate your post correctly?

Wouldn’t it be easier to type:

“who gives a fuck, i sure dont”

If I can finagle it around my college schedule, I should be starting with the kansas department of corrections withing a month. Thats about as close to being a police officer until I turn 21 as I can get.

I’m really into writing. In fact, my main goal is to write some screen plays and make/direct some movies and maybe some books.
Other than college,I’m currently writing a screen play for a movie thats about an H.P Love craft book and I’m going to try to sell it to a company.
Other than that I have two other goals, one of them actually being body building/health and fitness.
