Maybe, but the first infantry disciplined enough to withstand heavy armored cavalry were Swiss mercenaries.
To be disciplined when 500 tons of flesh approach you lightning fast with lances pointing at you is no small feat.

At the battle of Hastings for instance, the Saxons held their ranks and the Norman cavalry was unable to break them. It was only when the Normans feigned retreat and got the Saxons to break ranks and pursue, that the Norman counterattack was effective. You can argue that’s a discipline issue, but it’s more a matter of just getting outsmarted in my opinion. The Saxons didn’t break under the charge of hundreds of pounds of flesh and lances.

Ja, thats because they were necer charged to begin with.
They were on hills, entrenched, so as to make an organized cavalry charge impossible.
When they came down that hills on order to pursue the “fleeing” Normans, those undisciplined hicks, the Norman cavalry mopped the floor with them.

You even get to use a ‘weapon.’

Wonder Woman. She can tie me up and make me tell her the truth any day.

She can also fly me all over the world on her invisible airplane.

It’s not completely clear exactly what happened in the battle as accounts don’t all agree. The Saxons were definitely on hills, but I would say entrenched is unlikely. They were forming a shield wall, so being in a trench would make that difficult. In any event, both Norman infantry and cavalry engaged the Saxon shield wall and could not break it. It was only through feigned withdrawal that the Saxon shield wall broke itself.

I would also be willing take both of them at once.

If I may reply to the original question (sort of) w/out reading thru this thread:
I’d fight a bear for you, maybe not a grizzly bear, or a brown bear, or a panda. But maybe like a care bear? Yeah, I’d fight one of those sonsabitches for you!
I dunno, man. Those little bastards are putting on a front. They might look cute, but if you cross them they’ll assrape you with a motorcycle chain and nail your thumbs to a fence.
Oh jeez. Yet another iteration of the 100 people vs a bear thread, I see.
I would like to see ONE of you Internet badasses take on a single rabid raccoon, naked, in a handball court.
Then maybe…MAYBE, if you survive, you can work your way up to bobcats, lynxes and wolverines.
