Who ever said anything about voting Hilary? Certainly I didn’t.
As I see it, the republican party is officially dead as a conservative force if Trump is elected. Dead. It can recover from him losing, it will not recover from him winning. Long term I’d rather save the republican party as a conservative voice for the future than endorse the marginal improvement in the difference between 4 years of Trump or Hilary.
Let Hilary get elected and then crushed next election by a principled republican and damage dems for years and years as a result.
We’re still great because we have checks and balances. No one person can run away with power here. Congress deserves a lot more credit than it gets. People only look at what they have done for them lately, not the horrible shit they have managed to protect us from. We’ve had terrible presidents before, including the current one (who looks good comparatively) and congress and the USSC and ‘the people’ has stopped them from running away with power.
We don’t elect kings. Winning an election guarantees nothing. Presidents can be voted in and they can be voted out. It’s happened before and its likely to happen again.
Let Republicans save themselves, it’s not my job to force their hand. I have to vote on my principles and I cannot vote for someone who diametrically opposes everything I believe in. I don’t know the republicans can recover from a hillary win.
Your predictive power may be greater than mine and your crystal ball clearer, but the republicans as we knew them may already be dead. They were murdered in the primaries by a clown who took them to the cleaners. You may be saving only a pipe dream that no longer exists.
I think their coffin was sealed when their constituency voted for Trump, instead of the various RNC approved candidates.
Similarly, there is discontent among the Democratic Party as well. Perhaps, this could allow the entrance of additional - viable - parties, being the: progressives, republicans, libertarian-conservatives (social democrat, fiscally conservative types)
Agreed. We are both using crystal balls which are notoriously unreliable. However, we both agree each candidate is both terrible for the nation and undeserving of the office. I just don’t think the differences (if there are really any) justify voting for one of the worst nominees in the history of free elections.
GOP has swung from right to center right several times since its founding, if you look at the history.
All in all the 2 parties have a ton of ballast, and are not overly easy to topple.
What conservative “force” was there prior to Trump exactly? It’s been a sham for decades.
I wish I believed that. I would love to vote for a president that promises to “do nothing.” (No sarcasm intended, I am completely serious.)
I won’t hedge my bets on a dare. I don’t trust the folks to do the right thing by forcing their hand. People never respond like you want them to. I don’t want to teach republicans a lesson. I want my values to win. The only way I can ensure that is to vote for what I believe, not for what I hope might happen in the future…
I have changed my vote after the latest scandal. It appears Hillary may not make the first week into her presidency without impeachment proceedings beginning.
I would hate to be Comey right now…
One may or may not think this email scandal is a big deal, but for the FBI director, to come out against everybody he works for and with, with new charges and a new investigation now… I mean WOW!
They (FBI) must have found something significant to do this right now. I wanna know what they have found, not to reopen the old investigation, but start a new one…I mean, holy cow…
I know it’s all speculation, but I don’t think the FBI would have done this if they didn’t find something pretty significant, already.
Why would Trump get impeached exactly?
This was supposed to be a fun a games thread. It started before the FBI investigation. Just speculating on who might get themselves into trouble sooner… Now it seems like a no brainer. That’s when we thought hillary beat the email thing.
I think what Comey found on Weiner’s computer was bad, and I mean really bad. He knows the volatility that comes with doing this so close to the election, and for him to stick his dick into a blender like that must mean what he found was awful. I really can’t see him opening an investigation if it were only yoga class schedules and banana bread recipes.
I thought the same thing initially, but I think the timeline pointing to Comey not actually knowing what was in the email when he wrote the letter to Congress. He probably legitimately thought that the investigation would leak and that getting in front of it would affect the election less.
I think the same thing. And I feel terrible for him, since he’s pretty much fucked either way in the public eye. I don’t see any reason he was trying to play politics or do anything except his job.
I think he thinks he’s trying to do the right thing and it’s a tough spot, but I wish he’d just do his job and stop talking…
but I wish he’d just do his job and stop talking…
me too. he’s not a politician, more talking will just get him hung up faster.

He better hope something comes out of it.
I would normally be hesitant about this, but if Real Clear Politics is going with this story, then it might be worth posting.
