LOL
It’s pointed where the TV used to be. A space now occupied by a lonely palm tree.
And no, I don’t sit and stare at the palm tree.

I have a TV, but we haven’t had cable in 3 years. We watch movies though.
$20 a month gets us unlimited movies from blockbuster. If someone tells us about a really good show, we just rent it and watch it commercial free.
I don’t miss cable, there’s too much garbage on and it’s too easy to sit there and zone out watching something you don’t really give a damn about anyways.
we just got rid of the tv in our flat.
its a flat of 5 guys… we used to pretty much play COD 4 nonstop over XboXlive. there was nearly always one of us stuck infront of it…
now we got rid of it, we have big long converstaions most night, debating things, going to pub quizs etc. its so much better and i dont miss it at all. i watch the odd sitcom etc on my laptop but thats it. the only thing i miss is the news. im not as up to date as i used to be but fuck it

I have a TV, it just doesn’t have anything. Not even basic cable. But it’s nice for times when I have free time, because I can watch Dexter on a big screen.
Saved over a hundred bucks a month getting rid of satellite (all went into buying clean food), and I’m really glad I got rid of it. What a time-waster that thing was.
I’m the same way. I have a nice big TV but no television - I just use it to watch the occasional Dexter dvd, etc. TV is 99 percent garbage these days. Anyone else not have the internet at home (i.e. use a library or work)?[/quote]
I don’t have internet at my current apartment, but this is a temporary thing. Yeah, its expensive, but its a royal pain in the ass to have to go to the on campus computer lab every time I need to do something online. I feel that the money spent is worth the saved travel time alone, not to mention that porn viewing in a public computer lab is generally frowned upon. Ignorant bigots.
Anyway, haven’t had cable in over a year, and don’t miss it. I will repeat what most others have said: cable is utter garbage. I do have a TV, but it is used only for my 360. When I watch movies, its on one of my computers.

Huh. Kinda similar for me. Dexter is one of the few shows I watch on TV. Actually the only one I watch regulary.
Anyone know if theres a way to watch it online?
My parents got rid of the TV when I was 7 years old.
At 12 we got one in SE Asia, but there was either Armed Forces Network (about 7 months behind the US networks) or the local station in the incomprehensible local language.
I would sometimes watch it with the radio going, for a surreal experience. Of course, when the power would go out daily, watching any favorite show was out of the question.
I was given a TV in college, but never watched it. Gave it away, I think. Haven’t had one since.
The downside is that it is a social crutch which many people depend upon, as they have no interests of their own.
I can’t tell you how many times I have had potential conversations crash due to the fact that:
No, I haven’t seen that Miller Lite commercial.
No, I didn’t see that football game.
No, I don’t know what is happening on House.
(“House” was a horror movie ages ago, right?)
No, I don’t know that commercial jingle…
Of course, it gets worse if you are not an internet social neetworking junkie:
“Do you have MySpace/FaceBook/LinkedIn/Hi5 etc.?”
Not that I have the slightest clue what to post there…
There is a great set of scientific studies posted on http://dieoff.org under ‘misc’ that tell how TV destroys your brain.
Something to be said for that bumper sticker “Kill your TV”…
I have a TV. I usually just have stuff on in the background.
