Which GOT Ending are You Rooting For?

in her own words…

I was really hoping Tyrion was going to volunteer to take the ring to Mordor, unfortunately Boromir already died.

Anyways, let’s take the guy who just sits there and spaces out… can know absolutely everything but hasn’t used that to help in any situation so far**, just awkwardly stares at people, and put him in charge. He’s clearly shown some major leadership potential.

**maybe helped facilitate the night king’s demise somehow but of course off screen

My changes to GOT, last episode would be:

  1. I’m actually not opposed to Bran being the King. But I would have had Bran do things more obvious to make his choice throughout the last two seasons, to make the choice more obvious. For example, giving good mystical advice and intel to each member of that counsel.

  2. When writing in the book-of-knights, I would have had Sir Lady Briana write, “He is survived by his son, Sir Brian Tormund of Tarth.”

  3. At the end, I would have cut to a scene of a young Night King watching the Wildlings returning to the North.

++++

Observations:

Sansa is a bitch. Not only did she out Jon as the true heir, she told everyone the Bran’s penis does not work. Never tell her anything.

I never got the Sansa love. She suffers a lot and manages to survive, but beyond that she doesn’t really do much remarkable. Calling the Knights of the Vale to the battle of the bastards was a good move, but not difficult. It’s sort of obvious if you have the option. Killing Littlefinger is probably also obvious once Bran reveals the truth.

As far as her decision to split the north off and become the Queen in the North, it seems sort of conceited and ill-advised. Bran, the oldest surviving male Stark was going to be king. Why would the northerners object to that? It also seems to generally destabilize the peace they have achieved and undermines Bran as the King. If any of the heads of the great houses can just walk off and make their own kingdom, that doesn’t really bode well for future stability and peace.

Had to have a female ruler at the end

Starks as king only lasts till Bran dies. Then there’s another election. Starks haven’t fared too well in the south.

The show’s writing really fell apart in the last episode because it no longer even bothered to take into consideration how people within its world would react to the actions taken by other people. The writers clearly had an ending in mind and did whatever it took to get it.

The problem is that a lot of the things aren’t bad onto themselves- Bran becoming king is not necessarily bad; Sansa getting independence for the North isn’t necessarily bad; even Grey Worm not going “fuck you all” and killing Tyrion when Bran names him King isn’t necessarily bad either.

It’s just… they all happen because the writers say they happen, and that is supremely unsatisfying. That’s what bad writers do.

Sam is the head of house Tarly since Danerys killed his dad and brother.

Sure but House Tyrell ruled the Reach and Tarley were Tyrell bannermen … unless House Tarley is now the Warden’s of the Reach, he had no business being there as it looked like Tyrell was represented

Who was representing House Tyrell? Bronn? All of the Tyrells are dead, I believe. Bronn is Lord of Highgarden and therefore maybe Warden of the Reach. Maybe not.

I was assuming one of the unknown people at the council where they chose the next king was a Tyrell, Garlan or Willas - not sure if both of them were present in the show also unsure if they survived … it’s not clear, but that was my assumption

I could be wrong as I can’t find anything to confirm

He took the Black, so he’s no longer really a Tarly.

Plus he appears to be a maester on the small council, but last I checked he gave up on that. Maybe he finished his training in some time-skip?

I have a feeling standards and oaths aren’t really being enforced too heavily in the post-Iron Throne era.

There’s some odd nitpicks going on in here and around the net but first let me just say that

  • yes this shit was rushed.
  • yes there are some crazy inconsistencies and logic gaps
  • yes Danny’s turn isn’t as convincing as it should have been
  • yes Bran being the one to sit on the Throne comes out of fucking left field
  • yes the writers played into fanfare with the final act after the climax

Ok, but now the nitpicks

  • Sam being there. OK? It was clearly implied that he was now the ‘grand maester’ of kings landing. Why are people going ape over that?
  • Sam bringing up democracy was just a wink to the audience. The ending was all fanfare but was it so bad? I don’t think so.
  • Tyrion not being included in the story was a flat joke, but it’s because of his conversation with Varys, when Varys said that history wouldn’t remember “people like us”, again funny? eh, debatable.
  • Bran being the one chosen isn’t that crazy and it wasn’t just because he HAD the best story in the show, it’s because he had the whole history of the world In his head. I don’t know why people are forgetting that part. Does it hold up? Fuck no, not in the tv show but in the books it will be a different thing

Anyways, everything wrong with the last two episodes, or this season in general has nothing to do with this actual season. I think @magick said it already but everything wrong has to do with the lead up, mainly to do with season 7 being short and being overall the worst season in the show to be honest.

They rushed it. They needed 7 and 8 to be a 10 episode season, and then 9 and 10 to be the shortened 7 and 6 episode seasons to fully tell this story. They could have fleshed out Dany’s turn, made Bran a more obvious choice, and had a more satisfying aftermath from Danny’s death. I’ll never forgive D&D for rushing this. Fuck what were they thinking? why? motherfuckers.

I still enjoyed how it ended, and I have no doubt this was what Martin mainly wanted. However, there is no explanation why this was rushed. The only one I can think of is that the show runners wanted Martin to be the one able to tell his story, the way it was always supposed to be told.

They were in a hurry to free themselves to get that Disney money. Motherfuckers indeed.

watched the special Sunday night, he seemed super emotional on his final scene and saying goodbye to everyone. I don’t think he wanted it to end.

I like him, I hope he gets more acting gigs. Wouldn’t want his career to end with this character.

Too bad GOT couldnt have had an ending like Blazing Saddles.

Where there was a big fight in the end, and they broke the set out on to the other set

now THAT would have been a good ending!

I was hoping that the Iron Bank of Braavos would have to come in and take over Westeros. the good guys with the throne seemed too sappy. I felt like Bran should have been above worrying about earthly matters at that point.
