I could believe parts of that article. I’ve said for years that previous generations were tougher than ours. My Grandfather endured NINA, te Depression, and then ran the hills of Germany with a heavy as ruck and rifle while smoking unfiltered cigarettes. What have I got to compare to that?
You wear a dress.
It’s only a skirt if you wear something under it!

Adults carry stuff they liked as kids into their adult lives now more than ever because there is a lot more awesome shit now than there was back when grandpa went overseas to fight ze Germans.

Do you honestly think if the XBox360/PS3/whatever had existed back then that our grandparents wouldn’t still be playing the latest generation of that shit in their retirement homes right now?

There also weren’t many comic books, decent movies, music, or anything else really that was worth a shit. Why care about stuff from your childhood when most of it fucking sucked? (I’m talking about pre-Baby Boomers here)

The “state” of man hasn’t changed at all, but the world that he lives in has, and drastically so.

Typical retarded hypocritical feminist article. Where are all the good men, whine bitch moan. Love how it’s based on anecdotal evidence and that she pulls statistics out to somehow prove her point.

Tbh, the real fact is, neither men or women are very mature in their 20s, and i would even go as far as to say, that where men stop partying and start knuckling down late 20s, american women carry on partying well into their 30s and somehow still feel that their used up buckets are entitled to good quality men. Dream on. Typical article trying to shame men into supporting this lifestyle and to make excuses for their own shortcomings.

Many of the commenters on the WSJ have made the point that if the premise of the article is true then the question should be rephrased Where have the Good Dads Gone? But whatever your view of either one of these is the article is full of stereotypes and opinions, lacking in facts and evidence
I know I am behind on this thread but got to say to a Cowboy fan, nice Avi.

Yeah, I’m sure the girls that come to my club on Thursday nights feel the same way.

x3 here.

She seems a little attached to her conclusion. Instead of posing what could have been a good question she shat out a bad answer.

And people have always been like that.

I think it’s a good thing that we’ve gotten to the point where people can get more of the stupid out of their system before they start pretending to be monogamous, responsible, and bring children into the world.

I look at the non-college educated guys I know around my age, and yeah, many of them are married, have kids, and meet some of the other “adult” quotas… that doesn’t stop them from doing the exact same thing on the weekends their “less mature” counterparts do, and while they have to spend some money on things they don’t want, in general they waste money on the same toys and shit (at the expense of everything else) their single peers do.

Ill agree with this. Really alot of it has to do with the personality and character you were born with and how you were raised. There are great men that never went to college and some that received their masters or doctorates.
