Luv living here and never want to live anywhere else although going to hawaii the accent was gold with the women ha ha.

Having said that theres a lot of americans here already, maybe stay at home ha ha ha.
Sounds like the shit to me, surfing, wtf is that? I have given serious thought to moving overseas as mentioned earlier, plus Paul Hogan is a hero of mine…just messin with ya. Sounds like a wonderful place to live.

South Korea. Its really great if you don’t want to understand most of what is being said around you.

Lostinthought,

I’ll be in Pueblo later this month on business for Express Scripts (we’re opening a new call center there). I expect the “gymn” in the hotel to be the typical one treadmill, one stairmaster affair.

Any good gymns in town?

Well, im looking for something thats not too huge, no big ass cities for this country bumpkin, but anywhere with a few hundred thousand population doesnt bother me, if it helps my degree is for graphic design and print communication. I do like all 4 seasons, but winter is just too damn harsh here, snow is just fine, just not interested in 40 below anymore. Now by all means continue bickering over colorado and texas, im gettin a good laugh out of it.
No shit, slappy. I’m thinkin about moving, also. Colorado…?

Wow I thought this thread was dizzead, cool though, keep it coming, it’s interesting to see where everyone is coming from. I appreciate everone chiming in on this. This area is beautiful to look at and all that, but the economy here just blows, unless you are extremely lucky and get a job at the mines youll never make any money. Starting wage around this area for a graphic designer with a degree is 7.00 an hour.
Slappy, what mines? Way up to the nord of us? No bueno.

Check out the careers pages for Express Scripts (located in Bloomington, MN) and United Health Group (in Minnetonka). Both companies are always hiring, though I’ve never looked in your particular field.

You could always bartend… chicks love T-Men behind the bars. I do that part-time just to keep my sanity up, since I work behind a desk all day.

I’ve lived in SoCal for almost 3 years now. Previously, I lived in Utah (mainly just disliked the cold there), and I’ve traveled around a fair bit.

Anyway, really love San Diego (where I work, and where I lived for my first two years) and Temecula (where I live now). The weather here is unbelievable, the beaches are great, there are plenty of things to do… yeah, pretty much what everyone else has said. It’s definitely expensive, but depending on your line of work, your income can make up for it.

Btw, I wouldn’t put all of SoCal in the same basket. There are palpable differences between LA, San Diego, and the Inland Empire. Personally, I wouldn’t want to live in LA. Of all the places I’ve visited and lived, Temecula and various communities in San Diego (e.g. La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Penasquitos, Coronado) are at the very top of my “most desirable places to live” list - which is why I’m here now.

You are right my man, very nice places to live…

I lived in SD from 96-99 then up in Ventura, then moved back down here in '02.

I have to say, I liked Ventura better… Actually, the Ojai/Oak View area. Personal preference of course but when I moved back down here I considered myself more of a mountain kind of guy, and had to settle with little foothills of chaparall and scrub brush…

As for LA, I can’t stand LA, at all. LA is the reason I feel so cornered here in the SD area. When I have a free weekend and feel like a roadtrip I have to consider the fucking monotony of driving through LA. In Ventura County I could just aim my truck north and be just about anywhere I wanted to be in a short amount of time.

As for the OC, they need to pull their heads out of their asses and be real people again. It used to be cool, real cool, until a lot of the bands from that area blew up (no doubt, lit, zebrahead, the offspring) and “The OC” got on television. Now everyone looks the same, has the same vapid look on their face, and some sort of body modification be it through plastic surgery or sleeves of tatoos. I promise, the kids who are growing up there now are going to look at themselves in a few years and ask themselves “Who the fuck am I? I don’t even like trucker hats! What the hell does this “CBGB” stand for on my T-shirt? New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional and The Bravery suck!”

And Finally, the IE. Inland Empire… To have only been part of that area in its heyday would have been cool. Close to the mountains, close to LA, lots of horses, small town feel in proximity to the big city. Now it’s just a huge fucking sprawling set of trac-home suburbia…

Only my opinion of course… You have to take expense out of the equation when considering southern cali because EVERYTHING is expensive.

I live in the OC and I love it. I agree that most young people here think that they are living in a TV show, but its still a great place to live and raise a family in SoCal. I was born in El Salvador, liven in Argentina, went back to El Salvador, then went to High School in Easter LA county (Chino area). LA and LA county sucks, IMHO San Diego is the best place to live in California is you are a recent college grad, lots of good looking chicks, cool people, lots of bars and a decent public transportation system.
But if you really want great living, move to Argentina or Chile, man the women are gorgeous! And there is tons of stuff to do, Skiing, surfing, hunting, everything you can imagine, I am planning on making either Santiago, chile or Buenos Aires Argentina my second home when I become an OC plastic surgeon (JAJA)

Lemme put it in terms a Minnesotan (or any land-locked northerner) can understand…it’s like stand-up sledding, only in the ocean and not on the snow.

And how do you like it? You see Im on my last year of school and Ill be looking to relocate come June, I havent traveled much at all so I have no preferences. Anyway, Ill have a couple weeks off in winter to do some searching and I was just looking for some input from yall, thanks a bunch.
South Florida is nice. It’s like the South, but without all the Southerners.

But seriously, a couple of weeks is not much time to get to know even one place. What are you looking for? I’d say choose someplace with warm weather and beaches, mountains, or both, but some people don’t care about such things. I really liked living in Santa Rosa, CA, and Sarasota, FL (where I live now). I didn’t much care for mid-sized college towns in east central Alabama or mid Michigan (where I grew up), but they are much better than mid-sized non-college towns in the same areas. Living in a big city in the U.S. is just a pain, but they’re fun to visit.

I went to college in upstate New York. Beleive me, you owe it to yourself to check out some west coast beach towns.

I’ve got to stick up for my first home - central NY. IMO (Which doesn’t count for shit), there is no prettier place on earth than the Finger Lakes region.

No offense intended dollarbill. My school was on the banks of the Hudson and the scenery was breathtaking. I just never could get used to the weather.

How about Sweden? I know lots of people from USA and Canada who have moved over here for both work and college. Everyone speaks english and its close and cheap to travel to the rest of europe.

No offense taken. The weather is a drawback if you can’t stand snow and rain. The West coast is the one place in the U.S. where I’m lacking in personal knowledge (only been to SF so far) and I want to get out there to explore more. I can’t see myself living there though. I like the change of seasons too much. The U.S. is pretty unique in the variety of places where we can live and still be in the same country. There aren’t too many countries (if any) that offer this much diversity of geography and climate.

Slappy, what mines? Way up to the nord of us? No bueno.

Taconite mines, 70% of our area works there, in about 5-10 years this town wont exist because of the constant blasting, shakes the shit out of the houses here. Thanks for the tip too, graphic design is my field. And for where I want to live I’m open to any and all suggestions, I dont have to make a decision for about 6 months, so I’m just gathering information at this point.

Milwaukee does rock. Awesome party town-right up there with New orleans (before Katrina, obviously) and Vegas. Waaay too cold in the winter, though; gets down to around 70 below sometimes. I can usually deal with cold, but that’s a little extreme.

Also check out Portland; I can’t say I’ve been there, but I’ve heard from several people who used to live there that it’s incredible. Lots of partying and chicks.

Vancouver BC, been here for 6 months now.

Thank god I found the Olympic Gym. Fitness World was killing me!

So have you decided yet???

Phoenix AZ
Love the heat, Great place and most of the people are extremely friendly.
Born in Colorado, lived there for 50+ years. Broncos are still the best. But great when they had Elway.
