What to Expect from HCG Mono/TRT?

So my doc took me off HCG and believes I was having an allergic reaction to it. Says that it has happened to a few of his patients in the past but is definitely not common. Next step is to try Clomid.

Just started 25mg daily Clomid four days ago. I didn’t notice anything the first day but noticed by day 2 decent morning wood coming back. Day 3 (yesterday), morning wood even stronger, spontaneous erections throughout the day, and libido coming back - this felt to me a lot like HCG to me but without the side effects I noticed from lower cortisol on HCG.

However, today nighttime and morning wood is weaker, I did have some night sweats, and libido now even higher than before but my dick feels dead. Anyone here experience anything like this on Clomid? I’m thinking it could be E2 related but probably tough to measure and know for sure taking Clomid. If anyone has any thoughts, I’d really appreciate it, Thanks a lot.

Update on my Clomid 25mg daily therapy. After my penis and libido died for one week, I started waking up with strong nighttime and morning erections. Libido started to improve significantly. It can still take some time for me to get aroused but when it gets hard it is hard and there to stay. My sleeping problems have vanished and I sleep great almost every night. My mood has been the best though. I feel so content and positive and am not as anxious. Also food sensitivities and random fast heartbeats have mostly stopped

I had labs done at the 4 week mark of Clomid. They are as follows and compare to the labs I had done two months ago listed above pre-Clomid.

Total testosterone. 795
Free testosterone 18.8
SHBG 56.9
LH 10.8
FSH 6.0
Estradiol 24.1
Cortisol 25.6
DHEA 393.8
T4 9.0
T3 110
TSH 1.48
Free T4 3.5
Prolactin 7.4
DHT 76

I’m hoping this is sustainable and I can continue Clomid therapy or maintain these positive results. I read from one guy on another forum who has been on Clomid for over a year and a half and after six months of treatment erections started getting even better. I think that I’ve found that I need a treatment that enhances my hypothalmic function as opposed to suppressing it. I took a 4x cortisol test on my third day (and last day of Hcg) and hcg was severely impairing my adrenal function. Obviously, I need to lower my SHBG and cortisol from here. I’m also wondering if high LH levels like this can be harmful.

No side effects from Clomid so far. Only thing I’ve noticed is that after taking a very high dose of Viagra (100mg), the visual side effects (blue light, some waves in peripheral vision) seem more pronounced. This only happened once in the last five weeks and only with the Viagra - Clomid alone has been fine with no sides. I’ll report to the doc though.

It would be helpful if you could use [edit] in lower RH corner of your post above and add lab ranges.

SHBG typically increases with higher E2 levels.
E2=24 is very nice. Perhaps E2 was higher earlier and SHBG is lingering.
Higher T levels reduce SHBG and that may take time to adjust down.

How are you getting iodine now?

High LH effects:
Can drive high T–>E2 inside the testes, serum levels can be high and resistant to anastrozole [does not fit your case].
Can reduce sensitivity of LH receptors, a step backwards.

Glad to see that you are making good progress. Have not seen hCG allergies suggested before. It is a natural human hormone and you were pickled with it for a few months during the pregnancy. The repressed LH levels affecting cortisol are interesting. A few here have been less that happy with hCG and this may be why. Most feel good on hCG and feel a mood boost. There are many variations on how we are wired up.

Hi KSman, I’m getting iodine from salt and just bought a thermometer to take my temperature. My 3pm body temp was 97 degrees which is low. I’m going to take morning temperature for thyroid and every 3 hours to test adrenal function.

Unfortunately, the Clomid seems to be wearing off. My erections have gotten worse every day over the past week and my morning erections stopped completely five days ago, libido and penile sensitivity are going downhill, and viagra is not as effective now. I’m also feeling more down and less motivated. Interestingly, my side effects of the Clomid (greasy forehead and underarm body odor) have also stopped with my prior benefits from Clomid so this probably indicates some kind of hormonal change in the last week.

I’m not sure what’s going on and probably need new labs. Could be E2 or SHBG or E2 receptor blockage in brain causing a nitric oxide issue. From what I’ve read, many guys get libido/ED issues on Clomid and I hope I haven’t done permanent damage if I need to get off of this. First five weeks were great so confused and frustrated.
