self-phlebotomy is only to be attempted by those who are knowledgeable (or foolish) enough to do it themselves. I used a standard 21G needle and a peristaltic pump with a length of silicone tubing emptying into a 500ml plastic bottle so that I could effectively gauge how much blood I had let go. I had someone in attendance (my woman) just in case I passed out, so she could switch iff the pump and slap me around the chops. Fortunately that wasn’t necessary
