What Is Up with the Forum?

At one point I’d liked how Wendler’s forum required payment in order to keep idiots out (he said something along those lines). Still don’t completely think it’s a bad idea but I also get entertainment out of the characters who pop up on here, haha.

Same though, I have zero idea how any of this works.

Yes but for a while they seemed to be at the forefront of finding the new and delivering it to people. Even updating their current formulas with flavors or new ingredients.

It’s not that I don’t find them reputable it’s that it seems as if their supplement business is no longer active in searching for new products or in updating current ones in any way. It seems to me as if they have said (for a few years now?) this is what we’re going with and don’t expect anything different. Which is vastly different than what Biotest used to do.

Depending on what platform they are running, say like vbulletin5, there are already 3rd party apps that are direct plugins for the forum software. Tapatalk is a major one that comes to mind.

I am a web and software developer and I used to actually host a forum for hunting and fishing for a short time.

I kind of like your idea of combining a forum navigation app with a workout tool. I’ve actually developed a web based workout tracking app that my wife and I used for a while. The problem with these kinds of apps is that, at least for us, you kind of figure out the exercises you like that give you results, and get a few different routines down that are effective for you, and tend to bounce back and forth on them. Hell I don’t even keep a record anymore. I just keep it all in memory.

I do like the advantage of records keeping though and, especially for guys who are competing, or guys who are new trying to figure out what routines and diet combinations have yielded the best results, this would be solid gold.

Nothing new to add here, except to second that the new “features” of the forums seem to be making them increasingly difficult and frustrating to use. It seems like they might be here to stay though, as I don’t see any movement towards fixing them.

I will agree with all. I get the site needs to make money and don’t begrudge the ads in the slightest. The user experience has become very sloppy, though.

I don’t necessarily mind a pay forum, but I think it would be a barrier to new users.

Real quick: I hear the input - some of it valid and some of it lame - and I’m making sure HQ knows the critiques, problems, and suggestions.

Will let you know what I find out about what’s up.

Do explain.

“I bought a Ferrari. Best car I’ve ever driven, set the benchmark for any car I get from now on, did everything I wanted it to do and then some. But I wasted time driving that car and I’m not going to buy another Ferrari because they haven’t made a new model in a while.”

I totally understand ‘voting with your wallet’, but that kind of reasoning is crazy. Regretting past purchases, even though you’ve literally called Plazma a game changer, because there hasn’t been a new supplement introduced recently? Nonsensical.

Biotest has never been about throwing together something just to get it on the shelf. The fact remains, they’ve been at the forefront of multiple products that ended up getting imitated by other companies. Saying there’s “no reinvestment” is just a case of short-term memory.

Having issues with the advertising is one thing (even though they went, like, 15+ years with zero advertising). Thinking they’re “pathetic” and resting on their laurels is something else entirely, and false.

Where and when was this? I can’t find the thread.

I, personally, don’t begrudge the adverts themselves. Just the implementation of them making the site more difficult to use. Add it to the other forum glitches, and the user experience has taken a big hit.

The glitches are annoying, but if a school with one of the best cs and information systems programs in the world can’t make their website navigable, I don’t expect anyone else to

Good post @Chris_Colucci, and thanks for hearing what we’re saying.

Most of us are cool with the advertising; we’ve just gotta clean up the user experience on the forum.

If the site has to change in some way to do that, sounds like most of us are in. I just, personally, wouldn’t want to create a barrier to new users. One of the things I really like about this site is the community and the accessibility. Some folks have literally come on here and changed their lives by losing 100+ lbs.

I am okay with the ads generally, the auto play ones are a bit much IMO. Really the glitches are 95% of the problem. Lately it has been hard to even read a thread because it jumps around and all of a sudden I am up 10 posts. Double posts, quoting is a B1tch, responding to the incorrect person, liking the incorrect posts, not being able to like a post, not working in chrome anymore (I am back to explorer yay!).

I really like these forums. Just hoping they start working better.

Man I don’t know maybe a year ago or more? Pretty sure I posted it on the supplements part of this forum and it was moved to the Biotest store forum. Don’t think it got many if any replies really. All it was really was just asking if anyone had any idea if Biotest was working on anything new.

This. I don’t mind advertisements in the least bit. It’s completely understandable and I have never minded them on here. Shit’s not free. But it seems as if users are having the issues you mentioned across the board. And I don’t even know if it’s tied to ads as I think mine was working better before even after auto play ads are invented. B

Couldn’t agree more. Biotest has had and still has solid supplements. That hasn’t changed in the least bit. But it does suck if the supplement side is no longer doing anything new. Not because it takes away from any of the current offerings in the least bit just that I miss how buzzy this place would be when something new was in the works and unveiled.

Your posts often make me laugh. I’ll give you one thing, you do your research on posters before you rebuttal. Kudos for that.

Hindsight being 20/20, I absolutely wasted my money on Biotest supps. It’s that simple.

Of course I thought they were game changers at the time, I had become addicted to the taste and placebo performance increases. Don’t throw Biotest studies at me either. The claims are outrageous.

I digress.

I had become dependent on them mentally. That’s what happens. Go back and re-read my post history some more, that’s also in there. I was using them so I didn’t have to eat as much. Let that sink in. Stupid!

So now I get proper nutrition, and fill in gaps with a decent protein powder.

Y’all got $5K from me though before I woke up.

Supps are an absolute joke. I’m in the best shape of my life with no $60 intra powders. Y’all got my naive immature self hooked there for awhile with the fancy words and claims, but no more.

—————

Shouldn’t have aired this out here, and you’ll prob delete or ban me, but the website pissed me off to the point to where the Biotest piece came out too.

It’s how I feel and it’s completely justified. And real.

I’m not sure that @Chris_Colucci would ban you for having a negative opinion. That would be borderline publicity control (ideology censorship), and I would like to believe that Chris is of the mind that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and is at least a few notches above striking down those who would dare oppose just because he has the ability to do so. I have never used Biotest supps, so I couldn’t speak to that part of things, but I do thoroughly enjoy the forum.

To that end, as a developer I can greatly appreciate the fact that sometimes, especially when you add something new or update a 3rd party package, shit just doesn’t go right.

The point of this thread was that I wanted to make sure the developers and maintenance staff here were aware that users were having problems, so that they could address them (or not if they so choose).

I think that has been accomplished.

What are the chances that you would have spent 5K somewhere else? I am not a supplement person (always found the claims were extraordinary and didn’t have extraordinary evidence backing them), but I have friends that have spent in that ballpark of money on them from other places than Biotest. Maybe you would have used 0 supps, however, I think there is a high probability that you would have spent that money on a different supp company? Maybe your blame should be placed on the industry, not on the specific company?

100% agree.

I don’t blame Biotest for anything, it was my choice to buy.

I don’t buy supps anymore because I’m not stupid anymore, haha. (no judgement to those that buys supps, you do you).

Anyone want to talk about their issues with the site?

I prefer black and yellow, with SAMA.
