Two things, first I’d like to say I don’t believe God “controls” us if he did everyone would most likely believe in him or not believe in him depending on how twisted he would be if that were the case. We all know that we have full freedom to do anything we want even going against that “little voice” inside of all us or going with it. It is complete freedom. Secondly, the universe is so complex so vast yet so organized it’s hard to believe that God could be whatever it is each of us want God to be. I guess I have a third one. I have to say comparing God to other gods, saying He is the same in different forms would make God a liar. The attitudes toward his creation is completely contradictory from belief system to belief system. If one believes that God created the universe with all of its organization and consistancy they would do themselves an injustice to believe that God himself would be so inconsistent. If you truley seek you will find!
God is…a myth. Part of religion to control the masses. Scare people into being good b/c god is watching, just like telling kids santa is watching, knows if youve been good or bad.
I agree with York. God is a human need. People, by nature, often must feel there is “someone” in control of things they cannot control. Weather, war, etc. So god is a concept to help people deal with every day stresses they cannot ("Tornado kills a bunch of people = “God took them to heaven.”) God is also used to teach children to be good. I have no idea. If God actually exists (as the maker of the world and life)…He’s never admited anything to me… 
Brider just wondering what these 10 dimensions are and who are “they” that came up with them?
I would have to say a being and a force. The best description I have ever heard of God, the one true God of the Bible that is, is “I AM,” found in Exodus in the burning bush scene with Moses. God calls himself an ever-present verb, for “to be.” “I AM” means I was, I still am, and I will be. Deep dude. All I know is He is real. I feel His presence daily and talk with Him. Most importantly, I called on Him about 4 yrs. ago for healing of Cancer. He answerd. God Is REAL. Believe in his son, Jesus Christ, to enter into a saving knowledge of HIM. Sorry for my preaching. It’s my duty to Him.
RYANO I am very happy to hear of your outcome with cancer. I hope it never rears it’s ugly head again in your lifetime. I have a very good athiest friend that survived lung cancer. I and his other friends and family looked after him during chemo. Not a very pretty thing for sure. I also have another friend whos’ sister had a very large brain tumor removed. During this period her mother became very religious and prayed and prayed along with her friends and others. Her mother credited faith and prayer for the remission after the operation. Unfortunately the cancer returned and a young mother(25yrs) of a 3yr and 1yr old was lost to that family. Needless to say a very tragic outcome. You may say God works in mysterious ways but I think placing so much faith in prayer and belief is setting one self up for a great deal of disappointment.
This was a second-hand reference. Don’t know who “they” are, and I can only really say for sure what 4 of those dimensions are (3-dimensions of space, and time). The other 6? No clue. As I’ve said, we as humans have no real frame of reference for comprehending those other 6 (at least THIS human doesn’t), so I have no way of describing them, even if I did understand them.
God is the silence between the notes. The space between words, stars and atoms. Learn to still in silence and the universe will reveal itself to you. Best of Luck.
I’m fully confident that g-o-d has a role in both curing cancer and in the death of people from cancer. The same physical and chemical laws that are manifestations of g-o-d play a role in both. But I do not believe there is any intent for one person to survive and another to die; there is no person saying “you shall die” and “you shall live” according to a whim. I do believe each person’s attitude or faith can affect the outcome to some degree, probably through the biochemical processes in emotions. If faith in God helps a person to survive, then more power to them.
A friend was telling me that his wife lost a child from her previous marriage. She went to the church to find meaning in her loss, and was told that she must have done something to anger God. Of course, nobody could figure out what she did that caused God to be angry. Frankly, I can do without a God like that, which is why I came to my own unique understanding.
The ten dimensions comes from the “string theory” not to be confused with the super string theory. Anyway, it has been a while since I read about it, but they have pretty strong evidence in regards to other dimensions. It is a facinating theory.
Actually, Chuck Missler from Koinonia House does a good job in explaining the dimensions from quantum physics. When Jesus briefly appeared after He was resurrected, he passed through doors with no problem. This is the multi-dimensional beings we will be in heaven. This is how UFOs cannot be caught by our jets; they are not simply ‘real fast’, they just transfer into another dimension. After some exploring other philosophies briefly, I found a pastor who knew and studied the bible with some labor and integrity; this is the only way one can be sure of who God is. As in any other endeavor, you have to put much work or study into it in order to be, let’s say, cognitively invincible about that subject. (and I have a long way to go of course).After thousands of hours of listening to grad-school like messages, I personally am convinced that the bible is true, that God is patient and fair and that everyone should definitely give Him a chance to show who he is. Why we don’t is that there is much apathy among people in general (witness that the huge sept. 11 tragedy really didn’t increase much church attendance)and also, not many pastors willing to thoroughly study the Word enough to make it convincing and compelling.
