Correction: I am Headhunter, a person who loves to strike at the head during martial art competition. Spelling counts.

There are good trolls and bad trolls, OP. Bad trolls just want to piss off people. Good trolls like to bring up controversial topics to get good conversation going. Good trolls challenge presumptions. Socrates was a very famous troll, for example. Fortunately we no longer make trolls drink hemlock.

Are you a good troll or a bad troll, HH?

I expect your reply to be a literary masterpiece that will fill my soul with wisdom and joy.

Let’s make Sun Tzu proud, eh?

(1) The post above didn’t piss you off. (2) You had to remember Socrates (I hope) and the circumstances of his death in Athens and how that all came about. (3) You now also thought of Sun Tzu and his philosophy of winning by not fighting.

I think this makes me a good troll.

For bad trolling, see Big Boss’ post. It didn’t encourage thinking, promoted juvenile insults, and was attempt to anger. It added nothing to the discussion. Excellent contrast.

As if you’re engaged in some highly logical discussion about trolls. You’re insulting us by trying to distinguish between a good and bad troll. It’s even more insulting to us by using that argument to justify YOUR CONSISTENT trolling. Don’t make your arrogance so obvious.

Considering the hundreds of posts you have made that go against what you’re “preaching” in this very thread. Hurricane Ike thread being a perfect example. Bitch, please.

A philosophical gatekeeper, if you will.

If Socrates was a real person then he was the most moral person who ever existed – troll or not.
Be careful…HH doesn’t like it when you talk about morals.

Well it is a tautology…so it is completely useless to us.

If I had no interest in discussing ethics (you meant ethics, I presume), then distinguishing between GOOD trolling and BAD trolling would have been…inconsistent. Focus is good.

Oh, and as for the hurricane: the argument was about using FORCE, to force other people to pay for hurricane damage. My argument was that VOLUNTARY charity is always better than forcing others to pay for your disasters…in a moral way.

This is a good explanation, HH, and I agree. From what I have personally seen, you’re a pretty good troll. And, yes, i’m well aware of who Socrates was… (Thanks to “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures”) j/k

As far as BB goes, he sees you in a different light and i’m perfectly fine with that, too.

The problem that I have with BigBoss, is that he didn’t like it when I tried to contribute a link to see “Wolverine and the X-Men”. He’s not a fan of Wolverine, which I understand, but it hurt my feelings. Here I was, thinking that I was doing something that maybe people would like and appreciate, but all BB did was disregard it and blow me off.

Hmmmmph!!

What the shit… You sound like you’ve taken a degree in trolling. Is this like a full time thing for you?

another great characteristic of a troll is one who creates a new account just to post their topic specific comments/rants. Nobody wants to post on their main account, assuming they have one (well, the scared ones don’t).

You sound like a fuckin douchebag.
Hey,that’s no way to talk to ya daddy like that…show some respect to the village elders…troll. There’s plenty of room under the bridge for the both of ya.

Op, have you never heard of google?

This pretty much sums it up, comes up on the first page:

“Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning. When done to uptight people such as fundies, this can result in hilarity.
Apparently I can’t post links here, so I can’t give a good example of trolling. Sorry.”

Yolked up is a fucking troll. Example given. GTFO Akhmed Suave.

One of my degrees is in Philosophy and trolling is truly an art form within that noble science. Socrates is an excellent troll, as was Nietzsche: “God is dead! We have killed him, you and I.” Of course, Nietzsche means that morality based upon religion is dead, since religion is not rational. But such a statement would piss people off, so Nietzsche had some bad troll habits.
