this site is different than the others…YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE ASS MISTAKE…we ALL learn from these comments…sure some are worthless…YOU HAVE REDUCED the QUALITY of this site by this action and many are extremely disappointed…

I have spent the last week or two actually going back through the archives here and reading some of the articles, and then the discussions afterwards.
After having done that I really can say its a huge loss to lose the interaction with the author after the article. Commenting on Facebook is simply not the same, and all the information gained in the forum discussions after really enhanced the info in the article.
I agree its a huge loss. There are not a lot of new threads created daily and most are newbs asking questions, which is great. But the discussion of the articles created plenty of good discussion and many great ideas were born out of them. While its true a new thread can be created to discuss the article, as mentioned previously its unlikely the author will find the thread to chime in. At least with the livespills they knew where to go for discussion and clarification. The articles are what sets this site apart from all others as did the interaction with those authors.
1 for a new approach! As others have said the Facebook page is a cesspit of muppets leaving dumb comments and watering down intelligent dialogue. I used to look forward to mondays for the new articles and half that excitement was due to having direct and easy access to the authors for follow up questions. It also served as a better platform for the authors to promote themselves and their businesses through making connections with t nation members in the comments section. I’m very grateful for this site but I admit I probably won’t be following as closely as I used to.
Im not a FaceBook either. Heaps of trolls and people tagging each other etc etc. Does my head in. I do my best to avoid it altogether.
I actually enjoyed the comments section at the end of the articles. Even though I could not take part (I do use Biotest, but however I get my stuff from the Aussie store, hence no special points), I found the comment section to be even more useful than the actual articles, as redaers questions would usually clarify any queries I had.
Maybe going back to the old way of having a thread in the forum section devoted to each particular article would be better?

+2 all of the above, but also my company blocks social media online, so I cannot comment there during the day, or read comments of people who actually know their stuff and/or the authors’ responses to comments, mostly when I am on TN, so a big loss for me.
Also, FB is starting to loose ground to other social media outlets, so it might not be the future anyways.
Yes, yes, comment on Facebook, where you must use your real name. So that means nobody here knows who you are because we only know the handles, but everyone on Facebook page (that you don’t really want to talk about lifting with) will see your comment.
Tremendous mistake that was made for no reason. I mean, besides the fact that you’re trying to drive traffic to your social media sites and get better SEO numbers instead of giving two shits about the longtime users of the site.
But hey, fuck’em, whatever.
This post was spurred by the fact that I went to commend Dan John on another fantastic article, but when I found out I was redirected to Facebook, I decided not to. I will never use Facebook to comment on an article here.
I vote for a return to the “each article linked to a specific forum discussion thread” format. Been here since '98 and really welcomed the forums when they first started up…never could understand why they died out in the first place, only to be replaced by the much-inferior Livespill. Never much liked the Livespill because it was tedious to follow a discussion. Scrolling through searching for stuff was often a huge pain in the ass: limited post-lengths that cut comments into multiple pieces; everything posted in reverse order starting at the bottom; answers sometimes 20-30 posts removed from the relevant questions, etc.
BUT…with all that said, I must admit there was some good info in many of the Livespills. WHY AREN’T THEY AT LEAST ARCHIVED? When I load older articles the Livespills seem to have been completely deleted.
*****************Another thing I really miss is the old “View Print Version” button or whatever it was called (good for printing a copy to read without all the chaff along the sides of the webpage). *********Any chance of bringing that back?
There doesn’t seem to be any appreciation for our concerns here. Unfortunate. The forums are pretty drab, not much action in them. At least the livespills created daily engagement.

LOL. Dude, this is a free website. If you don’t like the customer service, I mean, it’s not like you’re paying for it.

He’s also been here long enough to know they are reading this thread, taking notes, and have, since I’ve been here, always listened and taken user input into consideration.
What posters here want doesn’t always happen, but it happens often enough that one can’t assume they aren’t paying attention this. They are busy people. Just because they don’t quote and respond to every post, doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking/working on it.

ANd this is likely reason number 1 they are switching to social media based commentary rather than format and maintain another forum section.
If the boards are dead, why would you push to maintain them?
Well, not for anything, but that’s sort of a double-edged sword - T-Nation has either driven away or banned a shit-ton of members (a SHIT TON) in the past five years for all kinds of reasons, some reasonable, some totally not.
So if the forums are dead, half of it it because they’ve been shot in the stomach and left to bleed out.
I don’t want it to sound like I harbor any resentment over that - I truly don’t care one way or the other, and I love the combat forum, which is the one I frequent - but let’s call a spade a spade.

Yes, let’s. The forums are, and always have been, what the members make of them. The BSL forum seems to be doing just fine, lots of good discussions going on there. The Bodybuilding forum has plenty of competitors talking shop. The T Replacement forum found its rhythm, and Steroids has its Vets setting newbies straight. GAL is GAL, as always. My point is that the members make the forum, for better or worse, with whatever members are currently active.
Discussing articles seems like it’s right now up to the members. If someone was compelled to start a thread about today’s article, I’m sure they’d be able to start a “Barefoot Training Article Discussion” thread in BSL or Conditioning, no problem. But, no, you can’t necessarily guarantee the author will catch the thread, because they’re not all as cool as me. If nobody wants to take the initiative even start a thread though, that’s on them then.
(Note: I’m not speaking on behalf to T-Nation or whatever just because I’m labeled a “contributor”. Just giving my two cents.)

To try to assist people with questions, and there were many good questions for the two articles I wrote recently, tonight I set up a Facebook account and a Twitter account.
Those that want to ask that way, I’ll endeavour to have replies there.
For those not liking Facebook, starting a thread in an existing forum would work for my articles anyway and probably many articles, perhaps all.
