Maybe some people used their actual name or other identifying info when the registered as a customer, but when they decided to use the forum they wanted a different username?

That still doesn’t explain why they still use the other account. It would be easier to delete the old account and use the new “forum name” account for both. Why use 2 accounts when there is no real reason to?
Put it this way, if I’m going to post in the Steroids forum about my experience, do you really think I want a paper trail leading back to me with my credit card number, name, address, etc?
People enjoy their anonymity on internet forums.
A paper trail is not really needed these days. IP tracking and other techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated and are used more and more to get convictions, so if you are suggesting they are doing that to cover some illegal actions, using 2 different accounts is not going to be a good cover, at least not for much longer. Frankly, I am surprised they still allow the steroid forum and that people are still posting there. Thanks to Big Brother, internet anonymity is fading fast.

Hey, we’ve said that before only to have a bunch of college students laugh us like we were talking out our asses and that no employer could ever know what they write here.
I don’t think most people see it this way yet.
Didn’t anybody ever tell you that college kids know everything? Seriously, though, people do need to wake up to how much of what they put on the internet is not private. Gee, look at the time…it’s 1984 already.
