“Hey Doc I am having visual hallucinations after extended periods of insomnia, and no I did not start fight club”

The first rule of the fight club is that you don’t fucking speak about the fight club.

I am going to assume you are serious.

I have had similar experiences periodically through my life, mostly in my late teens and throughout my twenties. Thought I was experiencing heightened creativity, etc. With time and age I have come to realize that it was most likely expressions of manic behavior. Could go a few days with very little sleep, write, plan and solve the problems of the world. I remember the downside being that my eyes would start looking and feeling like “two pissholes in the snow.”

The take away is that I now realize that I was not more creative, insightful or alert during this time. As I was driving and sometimes operating other heavy machinery I was also most likely somewhat dangerous.

Discuss the event with a qualified physician. If (and when) it does happen again you will have a game plan in place. Yours sounds relatively mild and is probably nothing to freak out about. That does not mean you should not address the issue.

My episodes are few and far between and relatively mild. My wife, being highly attuned to my behavior will notice the signs well before I will. Her simply making me aware allows me to better monitor myself and actions (sleep, monetary decisions, etc). Nothing to freak out about but nothing to ignore. If you had diabetes or other issue you would simply attend to it on go about your life. This is no different.

Good luck to you.

Incorrect spelling/grammar is not why you came off as crazy. you seemed crazy because your thoughts were very rushed and sounded very paranoid. You sounded afraid to go to sleep. If this happens again you should definately get that checked out.

Thanks Jeaton, yes I’m serious to all of you. Thanks for the advice. I will get it checked out and have my doc look at it. What causes it? Last night I tried to stay awake all night. (Yes, bad idea after what happened). But some time around 3AM I just crashed, there was no way I could have stayed awake any longer. So how come It happened Sunday? I have been doing a little reading and for my case inparticular havn’t come up whith anything.

One of the greatest lessons in life I learned early on ALWAYS listen to Momma. Also when Momma is happy everyone is happy.
