What can you tell me about...

Yellow prussiate of soda? (Sodium ferrocyanide) I know it’s added to salt as an anti-caking agent, but like dextrose, is it considered a carbohydrate? In other words, does it contain calories of any kind?

Thanks,

Jonez.

Yes and it has 4 million calories per gram.

holy bejezus that’s a lot of calories!

I assume, due to the way you chose to answer my question, it is not considered a carbohydrate/has no nutritional value.

Or am I wrong? I would appreciate an answer.

Thanks,

Jonez.

I just had to do it sorry, lol.

I’ve never heard of it. It is my belief it is not a Carbohydrate, but I would hold for one of the Docs or Scientists to give a definite answer.

Holy flame retardents!

Wait…could it be just a food additive?

Ah, the hell with that…let’s make some smoke.

*the above was all hints as to what sodium ferrocyanide is and can be used for. thank you.

It’s not a carb… as far as I know, you can’t metabolise compounds like that. So yeah, no caloric value.

Thanks Travis. Much appreciated.

Have a great day,

Jonez.

Sorry, I just got to this now.

This compound is an acid. And it is added to foods to bind water (i.e. as an anti-caking agent).

In terms of it’s nutritional value, I believe that since it is added to foods in such small quantities it has VERY minimal caloric impact if any at all.

The one issue with this addictive is in reagrds to it’s toxicological effects. Some researchers are trying to determine if it is cancerous…
