Cornell or Ithaca, or somewhere else entirely? Just curious.
haha, the first, how did you know? From the area/go school there?
Just got back from studying in Hong Kong.
School ended, I went backpacking for three weeks in SE Asia, in addition to a bunch of long-weekend trips during school.
Nothing particularly dangerous (Neither Hanoi nor Jakarta were that dangerous for a tallish/biggish western-looking male), but there were definitely some fun/weird experiences.
Would definitely second the above opinion to travel. By yourself if necessary. It’s totally worth it.

Born in Rome, coming here to American when I was 5 fleeing what was the terrorism of the Red Brigades. Grew up in Los Angeles for the most part, went to college played football, it’s been lively to say the least.
I embarked on an Odyssey-esque trip and had to return home to take care of some unfinished business only to realize that this wasn’t really home.
Do tell.
Traveled a lot in my life. About 40 countries.
Sailed to the Caribbean from NY. Sailed around the Caribbean.
Went to the old Sun splash Festival in Jamaica.
Hunted Wild Pigs in Florida
Hunted Bear in Canada and Alaska.
Lived in Puerto Rico for a time.
Fought in the largest tank battle since Kursk and lived.
Salmon fished in Canada with an outfitter.
Hiked a hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail.
Hitchhiked around the country to see Grateful Dead shows in the early 80’s.

Hey man, what are the living expenses like in HK? I’m thinking of going there for a few months next year just to chill and maybe start learning Cantonese. Does everyone speak English? A very close friend and ex-housemate of mine is from HK, but obviously his perspective is different because he didn’t come there as a foreigner.
