Check out Ray Kurzweil’s stuff. That is mind-blowing. His predictions so far have been pretty spot on. His contention is that technology’s progress is exponential, not linear; therefore, we will see extremely rapid change in very short order.

I wonder if that monkey that was alive for all seven of those days could so much as wiggle his toes after the body transplant?

And I think those scientists are over-stating our own design capabilities. The one saying we ‘just need to create self aware robots, that learn in a community then they will automatically develop love’ …that was a bunch of drivel.

However if technological advance indeed increases exponentially I obviously am not able to predict the future either.

Some of it was absolute drivel, but in the full video link theres a part where they talk about how they were able to recreate central nervous systems in robots. Sort of like how bugs dont have brains, but function to keep themselves alive.
