VAN HALEN at the GARDEN! (5/23/08)

Wolfie’s pick (blue and black one) just has those stripes you see on one side, and on the other side says “316” (his birth month/year) and has what looks like probably his initials or signature scribbled. No other writing or inscriptions than that. It’s a soft, plastic-y material – maybe coated with some sort of rubbery stuff? – I’m not sure.

Eddie’s pick (the silver one) is a harder plastic and on one side says “EVH” inside an oval, which maybe you can see in the picture, then above the “EVH” it says “2008,” and below it it says “Van Halen.” On the back it says “NYLON” and under that “Made in U.S.A.” The top half of the pick is kind of ridged/knurled, and the bottom part is smooth.

What brand of pick is it? Does it have a gauge, or say like heavy, light, or medium on it ?
Typical bass picks range from .75 to 3.0mm on average. It depends on your preference, whether you’re playing fast or slow, and whether you have flat-wound, round-wound, nickel plated or stainless steel strings. I know a bass player that uses a coin to pick.

brian may from queen uses a coin to pick also.

Sorry about the lack of sound in that second video of Ed – I just posted in the Tech Support thread to see if they can figure it out for me.

Hey Damici, the wife and I are headed to NYC in 3 weeks to see PJ at MSG - what’s their policy on cameras and flashes etc.? If you snuck it in did you get patted down and where did you stash it? Sorry for the slight HJ but I’m damn curious.

I was supposed to see VH here in C-bus but they moved the show to earlier this month and we couldn’t make it happen, I had row 20 floor seats too. I will say this though, at $175 a ticket PJ is the only other band I would fork over that kind of cash for, but they take issue with that and keep their tkt prices in check pretty well fortunately.

Nice pics!

Peace,

Mousse

Hi,

They have no concern with cameras whatsoever. It would be impossible to enforce – flashes are constantly going off all over the arena. Maybe if you held up a video camera and tried to record the whole show they’d take issue with that . . . I don’t know. But I was standing right in front of the stage security guy photographing and filming.

Oh, on an unrelated note, VH were filming a DVD of the show that night, so when they release it there’s a good possibility my friend and I will be in it because we were right there.

Hahaha, dood - I’m surprised at you for not picking that up. I was implying that since all of your avatars have been cars and nobody knows what you look like - should we just look for a fast sports car in the second row;)

Ahhhh, yes. Just look for a white Lamborghini.

Or look for the little guy in the one picture I have on my profile page. He picked up a few moves from Dave.

You took boy with you? That’s awesome - I missed that.

Oh no – no kids here, my friend. I will try to avoid reproducing for as long as I can! That’s me in that picture (when I was about 2).

Haha, ok…clearly we’ll have no problem identifying you when they release the boot then.

Bad Ass!
Great spot dude.

Thanx for all the pics!

Thanks. No problem.

It’s funny hearing everybody talk about their age. The first time I saw Van Halen they were the opening band for Sabbath on the Never Say Die tour in 1978 when Ozzy was still with them originally. Geez, where did all the years go?
Tiribulus wrote:
