@SkyzykS that’s was very helpful I’ll look into that resort when I plan it! It’s great to have two really good reviews on that place
thank you!
@Dr_J2 I like that you told me about a less crowded area. I enjoy being around people but also want to spend time taking the beauty and peace in without being completely annoyed lol. I have yet to find a good fishing charter… I’ve paid really good money and they ended being a joke with grubby yucky captains ![]()
@polo77j thank you for that I will look up that specific area! It sounds like what I’m looking for too. Beautiful!
@anon50325502 I had no clue Jurassic Park was shot there, NICE! I love the way the waterfall looks. Thank you for recommending those areas. I thought about going on a cruise but now will not be doing that… I’ve never been on one but wondered if that’s what it would turn into. I keep looking at that picture!
@Yogi1 @anon50325502
BAHAHA that was a horrible selling point… though I do admire the brutally honest type!! It’s all good small Yogi ![]()
7-day cruises are great. 15 day cruises not so great. We spent 10 days on the boat. That’s just too long.
I don’t know if it all was shot there, but I know the waterfall scene was.
@twojarslave I can’t believe President Trump gave me advice on vacation spots
my hero! I hope he pays for it all inclusive please and thank you.
@anon50325502 WOW! Thank you for posting that one too. I’m going to look into those areas this weekend. I want it to be longer than a week vacation but need to start planning it now. Amazing! I absolutely would not want to be on a boat like that and even 7 days sounds long to me. I need my freedom!!
Lol, I hear you. Cruising is definitely not for everyone.
I’m a pretty big fan of the PnW. Either spending time in Portland, with great beer, food, etc. or driving east a bit to see the falls, Columbia river gorge and Mt. Hood.

Looks like I need to visit the states ![]()
So many awesome places to visit and so little time…
@dchris I have no words to describe the pictures you posted… that’s what makes me excited about this forum! There are so many places I had no clue existed and in those areas. It helps so much to have the perspective of people who have been to these places. I am going to look up more information on this like food/ and where to stay!
Maine is nice for all the things you’ve listed, too, or even doing a whole (ME, NH, and VT) New England thing. With maybe a stop in Montreal.
I loved Alaska and Hawaii, too, though.
If you’ve got a week, I’d fly into portland, get an Airbnb and choose a District to enjoy. Such as alphabet District, pearl District, university district, SE Hawthorne, East Burnside, Alberta, etc. so much good food, drink and dessert in areas. Then I’d head east in 84 through the gorge. Go up to Hood River, Mt. Hood. Then hit the Dalles and cut south on 197 to Bend. Amazing beer and hiking in central Oregon. It almost feels like another state. It’s a high dessert surrounded by mountains. I’d spend 2-3 days there then head west to the coast. Check out haystack rock (goodies), up to seaside for a night, then up to Astoria and end back up in portland. A nice week long loop through the NW part of the state.
This is about 3/4 way up south sisters. It’s breathtaking. Not my photo, but I’ve got a similar one. It’s truly amazing. Then Haystack rock at Canon beach and finally Astoria bridge.

Edit: posted out of order. That’s cannon beach, South sisters and Astoria.
Some Jackson pics
@dchris Amazing and I really appreciate your detailed help with this! I’m sure that would be a memorable vacation for sure. You must live a pretty adventurous life judging by the pictures and description of the areas. I can’t get over the things I’ve been missing.
@studhammer Wyoming is a lot different then I pictured too. I’ve been through there on the interstate and it was pretty boring. I guess I can’t judge an area based upon the view from an interstate. Those are gorgeous spots too!! So many vacation options.
Hey you all I just wanted to thank you again for your awesome feedback in this forum
it’s nothing like having someone else’s experience of a good time to help you with yours. I know we are all different and enjoy different things however I see some post that were the same location reviews which is promising and also the activities I like in those spots. I am writing it all down but I see many of amazing trips in my future and some weekend adventures too! Thanks!!
