I’d say that probably Janice Rogers Brown or Priscilla Owen would garner the strongest opposition from the Left.
I think McConnell is the guy who most resembles Roberts – though as I said, he definitely has come down as saying Roe v. Wade was a bad decision (a position with which, actually, a suprising number of people who like the result would agree).
I think either Alito or Luttig would generate more of a fight than Roberts did, though both are definitely smart and well qualified. But I think the President actually seems to want a bit of a ideological fight on this one.
