As Trump frequently misinterprets advice/information, I thought it’d be punny to use “master debater”
Similar thing happened to me once. I was mildly assaulted, had my phone stolen (and interestingly enough, eventually returned albeit with a caveat) and thus missed a Judas Priest concert. My nose will presumably forever be slightly crooked as a reminder.
A bit lol? That’s an understatement. The amount of bullshit they spin is a reflection of how stupid they think their audience is .
You probably have an idea of what I do for work. If I were to really spin something(it’s extremely rare), it’s only because I know my client’s target audience are complete dumbasses and easily manipulated, and part of the spin is making them believe they’re smarter than average people not exposed to the shit I’ve fed them.
Nah, it was more of the latter. I initially saw it on R/notheonion. The onion is a satirical news source that is dedicated to… more or less… taking a piss. R/notheonion is a subreddit dedicated to articles of news that make you think “seriously… Is this a joke?”
I apologise, I wasn’t trying to be insensitive. I will be more cautious with my words of choice next time. Miners lung is a horrible disease
Don’t worry about it man. As random phrases go, there is virtually no chance of knowing that in a random exchange. I’m certainly not emotionally affected by it.
On a serious note, I think the reason is that we both know that one can lead a shitty life not because of shitty personal choices (or those parents, relatives etc.) but because the system is messed up.
No agency whatsoever, you just happened to be born at the wrong place at the wrong time and you’re fucked. And people who’ve at least to some degree lived through shitty systems have developed antennae for detecting small signals that could lead to big problems down the road.
To people less versed in how shitty political systems work, this may sound like paranoid ranting, but it’s not. This is how trouble starts. Maybe not now, maybe in four or ten years time when talking heads on cable news struggle to answer the question “but where does this rage come from?” while someone is burning down a local town hall.
For Trump and his team this may be part of Season One cliffhanger, but for people watching and consuming this infotainment it’s very, very real and it’s making them angry.
You have to forgive Pat. He’s been drinking from the well of if you say it loud enough it must be true. His favorite person responded to the report with this: “Complete and Total EXONERATION.” But the actual report clearly said it didn’t exonerate him. That’s why so many Republicans think Trump is correct when he says he won the election big time. Because the guy they like said it and said it with conviction. That’s been good enough on a ton of different topics for a long time. Facts don’t matter if you simply don’t care about them.
The report on the whole was fairly confusing which is why I consistently go back to pages that summarize findings.
“ Mueller found at least four acts by Trump in which all elements of the obstruction statute were satisfied – attempting to fire Mueller, directing White House counsel Don McGahn to lie and create a false document about efforts to fire Mueller, attempting to limit the investigation to future elections and attempting to prevent Manafort from cooperating with the government. As Mueller stated, “while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.” Mueller declined to make a “traditional prosecution decision” about obstruction of justice. Because he was bound by the Department of Justice policy that a sitting president cannot be charged with a crime, he did not even attempt to reach a legal conclusion about the facts. Instead, he undertook to “preserve the evidence when memories were fresh and documentary materials were available,” because a president can be charged after he leaves office.”
In fact, out of an abundance of fairness, Mueller thought that it would be improper to even accuse Trump of committing a crime so as not to “preempt constitutional processes for addressing presidential misconduct,” meaning impeachment.
Mueller didn’t make judgments he didn’t think it was his job to make judgments. My point was that it’s odd to say complete and total exoneration about a report that says clearly it doesn’t exonerate someone.
I mean it’d be like your opponent having over 270 electoral votes a clear majority and insisting you won big or something.
