Anyways, I don’t care so much about him claiming a different definition for a word. What I care about is him doing more than hand waving about his claim that having a family is a good indicator for leadership.
Nothing IMO and experience. The only real argument is whether a good leader is born that way or acquired this ability through nurture and experience. I think it’s a combination, but way more of the former than the latter.

I think retaining control of the senate, winning seats in the house, (CA’s laughable “affirmative action” proposition defeated despite all the crazy politicians pushing it hard), the “seniors” see that even though the top might be lost, the foundation is actually more solid. The presidential race was mostly about get Trump outta there it appears. And after Biden’s faculties decline to the debilitating stage, soon in my opinion, the rational populace will see what a sham the “Biden”/Harris ticket was, and the republicans will most likely be better off in the long run. That’s why the senior republicans are appearing non-partisan, gasp; no way they want to undermine their gains just for Orange. That’s my .02

That’s fine. I wouldn’t. I’m not sure what that proves? Hunter Biden was already known to have struggled with addiction. It wouldn’t be surprising to me that he had sex while under the influence of a drug. It would probably be more surprising that he hadn’t. It’s very common for people to have sex while drunk or high. I have. I would guess a lot of the forum has.
Joe Biden breaking the record for the most votes ever means that a ton of Americans simply don’t think that having a kid that has struggled with addiction should disqualify you from the Presidency.
FWIW if I’m told a video of any politicians exists where his kid is having sex without drugs I’m not seeking it out. That’s where we differ apparently.
But we can just agree to disagree on how important it is that a politician have perfect family members. Perhaps I look at it differently as I work with families who struggle with addiction. I can tell you that I don’t feel contempt for them and certainly wouldn’t rush to find videos of them having sex while high.
We have members on this forum who have struggled with addiction and gone into great details about their fights.
They should all be speaking out against Trump if they’re smart since the odds of a Trump win are so low or their credibility is just going to suffer in the future. The dumb shit he recently said is the perfect opportunity for them to raise their credibility amongst moderates.

I kinda knew about that other stuff, not much about it though. I knew there was a lot of courruption within police departments, but I don’t know, I think when I saw “police brutality and racism” it made my mind go straight to the American version of white cops beating black/brown people (which yes, before people attack me, isn’t always how it happens!). I’m not sure entirely sure of what I was thinking was going on in Asia, haha. Maybe it was a dumb question.

I think a lot of it won’t matter. Get through this and then immediately pivot to the Obama playbook and say we can’t afford that a lot. It’s probably better than everyone eviscerating a President who has a base they are going to need.
Speaking purely about what makes sense politically not what makes sense as a leader.

It’s just that all this is systemic, i.e, if the monks are aiding the military in killing Muslims in Myanmar, you can bet that several parts of the government and police are in it as well. The police won’t be a separate party to all this. And the fact that this can happen is because the majority of the population is fine with it.
The idea of systemic racism DOES exist. The question is does it exist in your country. I don’t know, nor have I ever written that I think it does.
Yeah, sure, it depends on a lot of factors. Religion, caste, economic status, race, culture etc. Chinese in S.E Asia were called the “Jews of the East” by the Brits and even the King of Thailand in the early 1900s.
The “gangster” part was just one of the many excuses the police would use to invoke the law to fuck with Chinese people. “Chinese” is both a nationality and a race in Asia.
Non-Asian people like Whites are normally working for MNCs so they’re richer than the average population. Add in the subconscious admiration/subservience for/to them due to past colonization and no one fucks with them. For Blacks, it would depend on their nationality. A Kenyan will probably get fucked with while a US or British citizen won’t.
It’s all pretty complicated so I won’t go into all the details to avoid derailing this thread.

It’s complicated. In Asia, “Chinese” means a race, which is why I was objecting to Trump calling COVID the “Chinese Virus”. It says so on my id although we are actually “Hans”(majority of China’s population) descended from China. Malay in Malaysia is a race. In Indonesia, people are mostly Javanese. Thais, Japanese, and Koreans are the same “race” as their countries of origin unless they’re racially Chinese or Malay etc, like “Chinese” is also used as a nationality.
Indians have their own internal system that’s pretty complicated but we just call our local ones “Indians” It’s listed as “race” on their ids.
So Henry Golding from Crazy Rich Asians was horribly miscast since he isn’t Chinese even though he’s “Asian” since he’s from Malaysia, which is in Asia, but “Malaysian” is a nationality, not a race and neither is “Asian”. He’s part Malay mixed with some indigenous races(which could be Burmese or Thai etc I wouldn’t know) on his Asian side. Does that make sense lol?
I get that it’s hard to grasp and I’m not expecting people from the West to know all these just like I wouldn’t assume that you expect us to know all the same shit in the West.

Explaining the basics of living life as a human being is tiresome. It’s actually fun doing this with your kids, because they learn.

We do judge our environment all the time. Our brain is basically a big, wet, measuring device.
Every second we look for stimuli and sort it out wether to ignore, react or simply observe some more.
To be able to function in a complicated society of humans, we use metrics and heuristics. A lot of them. Luckily, complicated humans are only complicated on the outside. And the more someone signals how individual and free thinking he is, the more he follows strict patterns.

It’s harder for normal people. That’s why there’s universals across cultures and history. And the big ones are a list of negativa:
Not liking children is troublesome and almost psychopathic with women. These weirdos were filtered out for over a million years, usually with clubs.
Not being able to laugh? Again, a potential red flag.
And so on.
Since ALL living life forms have had successful parents, and so had they beforehand, and so on, all the way up to the first archaeic proto bacteria, this is the only thing that unites all living organisms in terms of behaviour.
So being confortable with children and family is trait number one to look for.
A high tier leader must obviously be normal enough to have started a family, the very definition of normalcy. If not, red flag.

I also don’t think someones behavior when he is in the throes of addiction is necessarily indicative of who they are as a person. Its like they are two different people. But I’ve personally known enough people with poly substance abuse issues to see that sometimes those people merge into one and they are inseparable and indistinguishable from one another. That might not be Hunter Biden. I don’t know. The videos I saw could be 5 years old or older.
