It is obvious by my other posts that I am talking about individuals in those states. Keep trying to keep up. Context of other posts does matter.
He’s not seriously trying to talk about stuff ever.
I know that. Just a troll. I shouldn’t respond as he isn’t interested in honest discussion.
You mean the same constitution that you want to change to get rid of the electoral college? By the same politicians who want to pack the SCOTUS to ensure a majority of liberal judges in perpetuity?
Everyone having a voice is fair, not just the majority.
I never said proof. Just saying that through history the system seems to be fair with both parties holding power. How is that not fair? The system seems to work pretty well.
So holding the political views you hold, are you saying that if the majority of the people in the country were Republicans, and we had a popular vote, then you would be fine with there always being a Republican president? Hypothetical of course, but it could happen in either direction.
I am just saying the electoral college / senate isn’t fair. Maybe I have advocated getting rid of it? I don’t recall. I am actually more for statehood of DC, Guam, Puerto Rico. That would even it out without getting rid of it. Those people as American citizens should have representation.
Additionally, it likely wouldn’t happen. Doesn’t it require 2/3 of the states to approve it? I don’t think that is happening.
I don’t think Biden has said he wants to pack the courts?
The current system has given the minority a larger voice to have more power than the majority. I am for everyone having an equal voice. Not unequal.
When a minority of voters selects the president, and an unequal amount of senators it isn’t fair by definition. They shouldn’t get more power just because they are minority.
My apologies if you were. Sadly a lot of people hold that opinion. Most of them young and thinking the world owes them a living and a bunch of free shit.
Yes. Republicans almost always hold the power positions in my state and we never go red for the presidency. If I want non Republicans in my option is to move or convince people to make a change. I shouldn’t “get” to have a Democrat senator because it’s been decades. If we want one vote one in. But my single vote for senator counts the same as everyone else.
If more people vote for a Republican President I might not be happy but it’s clearly what the country wants so I can leave the country or try to convince people to change.
I’m simply saying why not elect Presidents the same way we elect everyone else. Give a Republican in California a reason to cast a vote for Trump knowing it might make a difference. He may care about down ballots and vote anyways but he has no real reason why to vote in the Presidential. And make no mistake about it Presidential candidates do not give a shit about Alabama or California. They won’t spend there won’t campaign there down the stretch. They will do that in swing states.
IMO, we would see politics move towards center with this type of system which I think is good.
No worries brother. Two things are true:
- I’m a proud Trump supporter.
- I’m a proud dumb fuck

If you said the first the second is already known…
I kid I kid! I know by far more Trump supporters than I do Biden ones as I’ve lived in conservative areas my whole life. I don’t think conservatives are dumb fucks at all (though I would prefer they were moderate just like I do with Dems).
Its the Dem politicians that are off the chain.
Thus, Trump.
Fair? From whose subjective idea?
I chuckled at numerous points.
Because it gives a few people the possibility of going against the will of the people.
Yes and no. A check that can maintain imbalance.
Conservatives might not be, but many of those who vote conservative are.
Yep exactly. In my job, we have a large IT area, hundreds of people. We decided that we should buy a big Microsoft 365 subscription - tens of millions - outside of our budget
We took this to the CEO and in the meeting, Operations, Finance and HR together knocked it back because they wanted more people first and didn’t see us being able to pay it back without hurting the budget of other areas for the next few years - even though all together they have less people than we do.
So anyway, next month we are thinking of telling the CEO that he should just make the decision based on what we think and not call in the other groups to see the impact on them. We make up the majority of the workforce after all.
@punnyguy this just dropped:
Told you. Even these guys can tell it’s just a mud slinging contest this year. It’s not like the Trump vs Hilary one although it’s still as well written as that one lol.
Yeah I think that seems a bit more complicated! As a boss no way am I asking what the majority wants unless I’m taking that to heart. Nothing worse than someone asking what the team wants and then saying “well we decided to do this anyways…but we value your input!”
But I also ask those things typically about small items like which day do you want to do office party or get pizza?
You don’t think states that are really big in area that very few people live shouldn’t have more sway? Hey you want more voting power move there! If not face the tyranny of the tiny! I don’t think it will change anytime soon but I do think it makes sense and the arguments against it are weak.
