Unleashing and Maintaining the Fury

I recently got my results back from law exams and I am bitterly disappointed. I’ve been in a similar position before when I studied economics and responded by performing extraordinarily well the next semmester. My efforts were fuelled by my anger at my earlier performance. I need to repeat this but to a greater degree. I know what kind of person I am and what I respond to. All this hippy, meditation shit isn’t for me - I need rage. I was hoping some of you guys could tell me about any resources, strategies, books etc that help fuel/maintain/unleash motivational anger.

Cheers.

Liam

honistly I’ve found rage to be a very capricious motivator. Everytime i’ve tried to use rage to motivate me i’ve burned out after a short time. I’ve found that substituting rage with determination and a little attitude to be a more sustanable attitude.

I agree with redsol. Rage works for a while, but it is no match for pure focus. If you can get your mind intensely focused on your work, you will accomplish much more for longer periods than you can by just being pissed.

Give up!! Just face the fact: you don’t have the balls to follow a study plan.

You might just aswell go on wellfare now, looser…

Visualisation. I also recently did exams for a qualification so I wrote my name in big letters on a large piece of paper followed by the letters I’d have after my name if I passed and stuck it on the wall where I’d see it 20 times a day. Anytime I strayed (and believe me motivation for studying is a big problem for me) it reminded me of the reward.

Also, whatever you’re studying to become surround yourself with things which inspire you to become it. Sounds corny but if you’re studying to become a lawyer, watch A Few Good Men or The Firm etc etc. I tried something similar recently and it worked.

Keep your eyes on the prize!
